I graduated from university in December and was about to travel for a couple months to go visit my fiance and then would be back to the states in May to start my regular summer job as a sailing instructor where I make pretty good money. However this position is only seasonal and will end in September, in which case after that I was going to get a more long term job. I have filed our I-129f so hopefully this will come through this summer, however I don't think I have enough money saved up or income to show support for the i-134. My fiance who is from the UK has a job where he works from home, so he will continue to be employed throughout the whole visa process and will keep the job when he moves over here.

My question is can he use evidence from his job that he can support himself or do I need to get a cosponsor which my dad is willing to do? Thanks for the help!

Megan

Your fiance's job cannot count towards qualification the sponsorship. This falls squarely on you, or a co-sponsor. It is proving to the Embassy that this person won't be a drain on society or coffers. Your father would have to be the co-sponsor for you and your fiance based on what you described.

Actually, from all I've read on here, London DOES allow for self-sponsorship. Take a peek at the London sub-forum and ask there how this can be achieved!

The K1 journey:                                                                                                                             The AOS journey:

11/09/2013 - I-129F Packet mailed to Dallas Lockbox                                                                                         06/22/2015 - AOS packet mailed to Chicago Lockbox

02/14/2014 - Case shipped to Embassy, where it waited for over a year at my request                                 11/07/2015 - AOS approved (EAD and AP had already been approved) - there was no interview

05/21/2015 - Interview - Approved

06/19/2015 - Wedding (L)

The ROC journey:

10/12/2017 - ROC packet mailed to VSC

01/21/2019 - ROC Approved - there was no interview

The N-400 journey:

02/16/2020 - N-400 application filed online

02/21/2020 - Paper NOA received in the mail

Thanks for the help so far! By the time I'll need to have that form in I don't think I'll meet the poverty guidelines,as I just graduated and haven't really gotten a full time job yet. If I go the way of a co sponsor do I just have them fill out the I-134 form or how do I indicate it's a co sponsor? I haven't really been able to find to much on the USCIS website about cosponsors.

Again, ask the others who have been through London. It's an embassy that is very flexible on this issue and they're the best people to help you. :)

Ask in the UK regional forum about self-sponsorship. London does allow it. If using a co-sponsor, then they just need to fill out the I-134 and provide the supporting documentation with it. No need to state anywhere that they are a co-sponsor. The CO will know this, since the I-134 is not from you, the USC petitioner.

Have a question too, had to recently change my banks do to one bank was messing up my account ever so often. I still have my direct deposits from my job going to this bank. But I'm wanting to do direct deposit to my new bank will this have any draw backs on the affidavit of support?

Not sure how switching banks affects the affidavit of support. You just provide your most recent tax transcript, letter from employer and/or recent pay stubs. If you have some sort of non-taxable income and you want to prove you receive it by showing bank statements of direct deposits, then show a few of the most recent months. It will not matter if you switch banks. It matters if you receive the income you state you do,.
