Passport (Am I worrying too much?)

Ok, I started having a browse, looking at peoples experiences in the London offices with passports. I took out mine, and it looks pretty tatty. The gold has come off the front, due to normal wear and tear, and the back of the id page has a slight (4mm) corner of laminate coming away from the passport page.

I booked a premium passport appointment on Wednesday, to get it picked up the same day, as a precaution. (I am pretty sure they give you the old passport back with corners cut off within the 4 hours)

My only concern is my application having my old passport number on it. Is this likely to delay the issuance of my visa?

Does anyone else have experience with this?

Will I need to redo my DS-160, as it clearly states my old passport number on it.

K1 AOS:

May 22nd: Sent away AOS package Day 1

May 27th: Notification via text/email confirming receiving package. Day 5

May 29th: NOA's recieved on 29th May Day 7

June 2nd: Biometrics appointment for June 16th arrives. Day 11

June 16th: Successful Biometrics. Day 24

U.K. passports don't retain the passport number when they are renewed? That's odd.

A new passport has been fine for several I remember. No need to re-do any forms, etc. Yes you get the old passport back.

And to anybody else reading this post there is a reason we put on page 1 of our London Guide:

Finally, make sure your passport is in order You need to make sure you have at least 8 months until the expiry date on it, preferably more. If you've damaged it or gotten it wet, or the edges are wrinkled, it will need to be renewed. London is fussy about that.

Take heed. Passports have been rejected for laminate peels, wrinkled edges, washed in laundry, and suntan lotion spilled on some pages.

This won't affect your application. When you go to your interview and they notice the passport numbers don't match between your DS-160 and the new passport, you can explain you got a replacement due to the old one being damaged. Others have done this with no issue.

Yeah, that's why I just wanted to make sure changing passports was okay, at this point. My interview isn't until next Friday. So one day service this wednesday should be fine hopefully.

Take new and old passports with you just in case, then you can at least show them the old one with the original number in it

So I am just about to pay for MRV, should I put in my new passport number now, or keep the old one so I dont confuse it?

Overthinking, I am afraid is a trait which I fear will grow daily until the day of my interview

New passport. The one that will have a visa put in it. The old number is invalid now. That's my logic, not something that has been resolved before.

Thanks, I am a bit worried about my DS 160 having my old passport number. But from previous peoples experience, it hasn't raised many issues.

Based on what I have observed, nobody looks at anything you wrote (old paper forms or new online DS-160) until the 10 seconds between your number being called and your arrival at the window. At that point, you announce you have a brand new passport number to the human on the other side of the glass.
