Doh! If anyone knows the answer to this...awesome. If not, I'll be harassing my dear friends in Vancouver (who possibly may wish me death soon lol)

So went into my local RCMP detachment. Bear in mind this is a rather rural one....go in say I need a criminal check. Okay which one? I say the one that gives the certificate of no conviction.

Well needless to say that confused the poor lady greatly. "I don't even know what that is"

So I opted to do the name/dob search since we're not on the electronic system for fingerprinting and that could take forever to go through.

Bold letters on the top under my info.

"This information does not constitute a Certified Criminal Record by the RCMP"

"A Certified Criminal Record can only be issued based on the submission of fingerprints...

Omfg. I have to go back anyway.

They dated it 2012.

Are you sodding kidding me?!?!

That's it. Going to scream. At least the house is (almost) sold.

Sigh. Now when the heck can I take another half day off work.

Do you have a criminal record? If not then you don't need the RCMP one. Just make sure it says it's Canada wide CPIC should be written somewhere on there.

Oh the date definitely needs to be corrected

I will suggest you go to RCMP detachment which have digital finger printing scanning capability. Ask for search of the National Criminal Records repository maintained by RCMP.

Application Type: Visa/Border/Foreign Travel/Work

Application Specifics: Residence Application for United States < if this is what you are doing or else give them reason>

They will take a digital photo, digital finger print and give you a receipt after you pay about 80$. The certificate should arrive from Ottawa within a week.

Mine arrived in 2 days actually. I went to https://www.commissionaires.ca/en/national/home and got it done there. Local police station was no help they got the money and gave me the same letter as you mentioned. Which is useless in my case. Hope this helps.

I'm about 45 minutes from Calgary.

Head meet desk. I'm assigned on desks for the next two weeks so it's going to be a while before I can take this off and go to either the comissionaires or back to this detachment. (Comissionaires is no where near where I am when I'm in the city...)

It did check the RCMP national repository....

Oh well. The admin at this detachment isn't in on Friday. I lose nothing by sending Vancouver an email and checking for clarification...and then calling her up on Monday when she's in again. And by then I should have an answer.

If you're close to red deer the RCMP there will do the non-fingerprint check for $25 in about 10-20 mins. Calgary police can do them as well but Im unsure of the time frame. You do not need fingerprint checking unless you've been convicted of a crime.

Well this was the non fingerprint one and the detachment charged me nothing but just couldn't date it right. We're all human and make mistakes but Oi.
