Hey guys,

We sent our I-129f a week ago to the Texas center and I just got an email saying it has been accepted and routed to the California Service Center for processing. Anyone have any idea why they would do this? I was reading a forum from 2013 and some people mentioned that the Texas Center does not process the I-129f, yet the USCIS website listed that address to send forms to. Either way, I am just happy they finally opened it!! Hoping for a speedy process with no RFE's!!

Because you live in Chicago, in the middle of the country, your petition was forwarded to California. Cal is the fastest processing center for adjudicating I129F, but compared to Texas, it is slower in terms of sending the petitions to NVC. Good luck, we just got our NOA1 as well.

The Texas Service Center accepts all the I-129Fs then sends it to either California or Vermont. The site is determined by the USC's home state. For example, I live in Missouri, and they process mine in California.

I-129Fs are sent to a Texas Lockbox facility, not the Texas Service Centre; they are two different things.

You need to change your timeline to say California Service Center. Everybody mails fiance petitions to a Lockbox facility in Texas. That is NOT the Texas Service center. It is like a mailroom where contractors sort new petitions and payments before sending to real USCIS employees at a Service Center. You don't know your service center until the Lockbox folks route it to one and tell you in the NOA1 receipt. Once you know, then your timeline should list your actual service center.
