Is it common for UK citizens to not have this? Apparently my husband went today to get that done so he would be ready for his medical. I thought he would have had it by now.

Depends on how old you are, but yes.

The MMR vaccine wasn't introduced in the UK until 1988, so if born before then someone is unlikely to have received it; I didn't either, and had to pay to have two doses here in the US.

I guess it depends on the country. In Mexico, if you had mumps as a child, it is not required to get the vaccine later, I guess cause you are then imune?... Of course I had to get it anyway for the AOS once I came to the US.

Thanks guys. Yeah he was born in 88. It just so weird to me cause I had to get my first dose at five then at twelve. Thank you for the knowledge. :)

Not everybody needs MMR, there is a age cut off.

I'm an eighties child (born before 88) and had all of the required MMR vaccinations at school as I'd imagine most UK people 30 and under would have had.

I never had them, had to have one at the medical, bit silly given I had both mumps and measles as a kid and chickenpox for that matter. Few days off school though!!!

Before 1988 MMR were given as separate vaccinations; from 1988 onward they were combined into a single vaccine.
