Hello all!

I have a few questions about the I-864 form...

I hope somebody can help!!! I'm really stressed out, so maybe I'm confusing myself or overthinking it.. Any advise would be a great help!

First, on Part 3 where it lists family members (Questions 2.a.-2.f.) should I write my wife's info again??? She is the only person that I'm sponsoring. No other family members... I listed her in Part 2 already...

Also, on question 7, is my answer just 1 then for my wife? (Silly question, but I wonder if it's asking about additional family members?)

Heck, just to be sure, if it's only my wife and she is listed in Part 2, I would click Yes on question 1 as well???

On Part 4, question 4. Should I write my phone number in Japan? It's my current residence and mailing address. I wrote United States as my country of domicile on question 5, so I was wondering if I need to write my US phone number since I still have one...

Sorry for the silly questions...

In Part 3 questions 2a-f, no, you don't write your wife's info here again. You only list her in Part 2. 2a-f are only used for additional family members.

Then in Part 3 question 7 (enter the total number of immigrants you are sponsoring on this form from Items 1 through 6), you put 1.

Correct, in Part 3 question 1 you click "Yes" because you are sponsoring the principal immigrant (your wife) who is named in Part 2.

Regarding your phone number in Part 4, I'm not sure. I recently posted the same question on this forum. I was even wondering if it's a good idea to list a foreign residence in this part since the sponsor has to be domiciled in the U.S. If you still have a U.S. phone number, why not list it here? I was even considering getting a U.S. skype number because I don't have a U.S. phone number anymore. It doesn't even let you enter a foreign number format in this field. So maybe they want a U.S. phone number listed here?

Oh! Can I check a few final things??? (More silly questions to follow!)

It's just me (sponsor) and my wife (beneficiary), so on Part 5 I would put a "1" for question number one and then a "1" for question number two? Then add up for a total of "2" on Question number eight? I'm not planning on using any additional income or assets other than my own, so no I-864A forms...

Finally, I haven't needed to file taxes in the US for a long time since I've been in Japan for 11 years and paid taxes here. Do I leave Part 6 Question 13-14 unchecked and empty?

I just include all of that explanation and documentation? I'll dig around for a thread on this, but If anybody knows off hand, how does that work?

Finally, can I type my name (on computer) where it says to "print sponsor's name" on Part 8?

Thanks again!!!

Correct, on Part 5 you would put a "1" for question number one and then a "1" for question number two and then add up for a total of "2" on question number eight.

And yes, as I mentioned in my other post, you need to file a tax return even if you're living abroad (as long as you met the minimum filing requirements).

I think you can type your name where it says "print sponsor's name) on your computer because your handwritten signature goes somewhere else.
