2. Not too sure. Whatever you do, do NOT leave it blank. If you leave it blank, you'll get a checklist. Whatever you put though, it'd definitely be a good idea to explain it in the cover letter.

4. Depending how long it takes, I'd suggest waiting longer than from when you get the case number. If it's only valid for 30 days, wait until a few business days after the DS-261 has been submitted or when the IV bill is invoiced if it just takes one day to receive.

You're the greatest! Thank you so much for your help! :)

Maybe you call them and ask that. Something like, "I wanted to call NVC on occasions, but our lawyer discouraged me saying it'd get flagged. Is that so? May I call every once in a while, if I have a question?" In the same phone call you ask where your case is smile.png

that's a very good idea. let's see what our lawyer says if we already have a case number and I'm the one to email her it :D

Nice one! We're at the same stage! May I ask, on the DS260 what did you put for the vaccination question? I note from your timeline that you haven't had the medical yet. Have you already had the vaccinations anyway? I think I'm going to chevk 'no' and explain that I'll be having them at my medical in two weeks.

Cheers and good luck!

I just completed the form and i put "No" with explanation that we will be getting it done with records before the interview.

Oh ok, it must have changed then as when I tried checking the box for 'yes' no box appeared... I will tell her about the possible two week delay and hopefully that'll sway it!

Cheers

Hm, weird. Definitely changed that then as I was still required to provide an explanation with my 'yes' response.

Saylin

So i have another question. Have already submitted DS-261.AOS bill is invoiced however we have not yet paid.Waiting for IV bill to be invoiced too and then pay both these fees together. Are these two invoices dependent on each other?

No, the AOS bill is part of the AOS track and the IV bill is part of the IV track. The two tracks have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

Is there a reason why you're waiting to pay the AOS bill though? If you have the money available, why not pay now and not waste anymore time? Just curious ;)

Thanks for taking the time to answer Saylin. Our lawyer told us that our case is gonna get flagged if there's several people inquiring about the status (her and us) not because of the number of calls. That's why we haven't called yet. Is there anything to it?

Nope, it's bologna. As long as random people not connected to the case (so, not the lawyer, petitioner, or beneficiary) don't call, there will be no issues. Your lawyer's just making things up. I'd be cautious with her from now on if she's lying about something as simple as that...

UPDATE: DS260 submitted with box checked no with explanation!

YAY!!!!!!!! dancin5hr.gif Did the 2 week delay convince your spouse? :P

Hi Saylin

Received case# from NVC January 22 2014. Yes I sent off both AOS and IV on February 7 2014.

Alright, thanks. Updated the spreadsheet! :)

Your worries over this are evident, but after months on this forum, and seeing the volume of people that make their own phone calls (with or without lawyers helping their case), I'd think you shouldn't fear taking the bull by the horns and pursuing your own answers. I've not seen evidence shown yet on my VJ-time that there are consequences to these phone calls... other than positive ones or potentially frustratingly unhelpful onesrolleyes.gifsmile.png

thank you so much guys. We've had bad experiences with immigration lawyers lying to us before - it's just this weird feeling of lawyers knowing better than us that made us hesitate - BUT we'll definitely call on Monday.

Yay!! This is all so exciting :) I checked yes. I find that question (and many others in this process) to be silly and out of order. Of course all of the applicants will be getting their vaccinations at their medical so why in the world ask that question now when most applicants have not been to the medical yet? Idk... I clicked yes because I did not want a 'no' flagging my damn form. The way you did it sounds fine and I don't think they will have a problem with that. My husband has his medical soon, too.

Keep in mind, some people actually DO have the required vaccines. Like I did. But yes, most people don't, so not sure why they ask this.

Yes very true! Some are more on the ball than me :)

also I personally don't recommend what I put as I probably should have put 'no' with explanation. I was just in a slightly frustrated mood while filling out... I can't, for the life of me, understand why they need my husband's highscool's address etc.... It's just hilarious, but oh well!! I'm just gonna give it all to them because that's what they want and I want my husband! :)

Because many of us can get the vaccinations as children and have proof of the vaccinations. I don't have that record but I know my parents had me vaccinated as a child. I have the scar on my arm from it when I was 4. Because I couldn't retrieve those records (I'm over 30 and they don't keep them that long) I first went to my doctor and had my blood checked for immunity. I have immunity to measles and rubella but not mumps, so I went to my local health clinic where I received a vaccination, for free, for MMR (because I couldn't get just mumps.) I also received the TDaP for free as it had been over 10 years since I last had one. Why would I pay for those vaccinations at the medical exam when I could get them for free? Why would I get the vaccinations if I have immunity?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I didn't want to put yes as I would have technically been making a false statement as I need a Tetanus Booster which I will get at the medical and was worried that the officer at the embassy might be like "why did you say you had they required documentation on your DS260 when you hadnt actually completed the required vaccinations until your medical?" but like you said, I think both ways are fine in the end. I'm hoping for an interview at the end of April!

That's awesome! I need to inform my husband that he needs to get all the free shots that he can (yay NHS), but I don't know what's available in the UK. Will figure this out soon. :)
