One question that I have faded into oblivion a few pages back and I could use some advice/clarification:

I thought if the joint sponsor has a spouse who filed jointly, they HAD to provide an I864a.

Did I really get this wrong and get my joint sponsor's husband involved/ gathering documentation, unnecessarily??ohmy.png

If he does not have to do an I864a, just please confirm that the joint sponsor (his wife) uses the W2 somehow when doing her I864 to demonstrate what part is her own income.

Beneficiary - Applying for CR1/IR1 (but also played the K3 card prior to understanding it may be phased out.)

2013: July 20: I-130 sent (Chicago lockbox)

July 24: I-130 NOA1

July 24: I-129F sent (Dallas Lockbox)

Aug 2: I-129F NOA1

Aug 12: Alien Registration Number was changed, I-129F.

2014: Jan 28/29/30: - 3 transfer notices for I-130 and I-129F.

Feb 3 - Hard copy arrived -Notice of transfer to Texas stating Jan 29th.

Feb 10 - NOA2

Feb 27 - email stating I-130 being sent to NVC from TSC.

March 6 -NVC received our case.

April 7 - CASE NUMBER yay! IIN and BIN obtained and email given.

April 9 - DS261 available and filled in online.

April 9 - AOS not yet payable but visible.

April 10 - email regarding NVC case number and access to DS261 received/ email regarding AOS received and paid.

April 11 - AOS sent by snail mail.

April 14 - AOS arrived per mail tracking.

April 15 - IV bill received via email, IV bill paid/ in process, IV package sent.

April 18 - IV bill showing paid/ DS-260 available and done!

- AOS scanned into their system.

April 21 - IV package arrived per mail tracking.

April 24 - IV scanned into their system.

May 2 - False checklist for IV documents= AOS approval.

May 13 - NVC rep reported ? missing Police certificate via my phone call.

- Supervisor review initiated.

May 14 - Checklist for Police certificate came via email.

- Sent checklisted documentation priority post!

May 15 - Package delivered per mail tracking.

May 19 - Case COMPLETE!! Police certificate found by NVC:)

May 28 - Case complete email arrived.

May 30 - Assigned Interview date!

June 2 - Interview letter arrived via email.

June 11- Medical appointment Surrey, BC

July 8 - Interview in Montreal!! APPROVED!!!!!!!! July 10 - Visa package and passport in hand!! July 23 - POE!!

I've never had anyone be anything but nice to me at NVC. They've been courteous, answered my questions...they were nice people. One guy helped me with a question about my I-864 that even my accountant

WHOA!!! I woke up to a case complete email.... AHHHH. So I got bad at not calling so I can only go by when I got my case complete/interview notice. But Saylin, can you update me on the spreadsheet :) !!!! I got my email that the case is complete Feb 27, and my interview date is April 2.

I have a feeling that I am filling in the wrong information for the tax returns and I cannot get clarity. In the box of 13a-13c, am I putting my income in addition to my husbands as listed on the transcripts? I'm just so darn confused on this :/ The transcripts list both mine and hubby's income as one figure as we file married filing jointly and not mine individually (for example if we each made 50k last year, do I put 100k as that is what is listed on the transcript?). We are just using my income for the AOS as it well meets the poverty line. For those of you who file married filing jointly, what did you put here? I would be so peeved to get a checklist for this if I didn't put the correct figure.

I-130 for both parents

March 28th 2013 - Priority date/ NOA 1
November 14th 2013 - Transferred to Nebraska Service Center

January 7th 2014 - Case changed online to approved for both

January 8th 2014 - case changed to shipped to NVC

January 9th 2014 - case changed to NOA 2 mailed

January 10th 2014 - Received the hardcopy of the NOA 2 stating that NVC would issue a case number in 30 days approx.

January 21st 2014 - Case Received at NVC

February 26th 2014 - Case numbers and IIN number received - Wrong embassy code assigned...now waiting for new case numbers.

March 3rd 2014 - Filled in DS-261 for both parents

March 5th 2014- AOS available, paid and submitted AOS packet.

March 6th 2014 - USPS shows packet was delivered at NVC

March 10th 2014 - AOS shows as paid in the CEAC portal/AOS logged into system as being received by NVC.

March 11th 2014 - New case number assigned for my Dad.

March 20th 2014 - Paid IV fee for my Mum.

March 25th 2014 - AOS accepted by NVC with no checklist.

March 26th 2014 - Filled in and submitted DS-260 for my Mum

March 31st 2014 - AOS found in my Mum's file for my Dad - accepted and placed into his file/IV fee available for my Dad and Paid.

April 1st - Mailed all civil documents to NVC for both parents.

April 3rd: IV fee shows as paid in portal/submitted DS-260 for my Dad.

April 22nd: checklist issued for civil documents - NVC error ...

April 23rd: sent another certified copy of my marriage certificate

April 24th: Case complete! :)

April 30th 2014 - Medical scheduled for parents at Knightsbridge in London

June 11th: Interview at London Embassy - Approved :)

Yeah - same thing for me. Hoping it will be actually avail to actually pay later today. I keep checking because I am being obsessive about it. lol

Hi all, I have a very specific question for NVC part of journey in regards to Affidavit of Support.

If I read this correctly, and we're approaching the mid-April requirement to include 2013 taxes on the I864 anyways, I would recommend using 2013 as the most recent year, and he does not have to provide the prior 2 years anyways. Using the employment letter is a good idea.

And I believe on your I-864, you need to state why you did not file taxes.

On Feb 10 my application was approved from TCS. They sent it to NVC Feb 26. When should I start calling NVC for Case Number?

I think we were sent in the same box!:) Sukie's advice was good. I was planning to wait a couple weeks and then call NVC.

My file was received at NVC on Feb 14. Called two times in the last two weeks, they said no case # yet. ( Last time was a few days ago. A lady said they'd contact me.)

This morning my husband (petitioner) received an email from NVC with the NVC Case Number, Invoice Number, and Beneficiary ID Number.

I didn't even have to call them and ask!

DS-261 was available, so I filled it out today.

Wow! I don't recall seeing anyone get an email in a time frame shorter than most people get results on the phone. That's awesome!

I know this has been asked a LOT, but I have to file married for 2013, if I was indeed married, correct? My accountant doesn't want to do it because he says I'll get back so much less, and he is all "well file single and then amend it" but I'm pretty sure I've read thats the wrong way to to do things, and I don't want to get caught.

I also read that its possible to amend my tax return once he gets here and gets a SSN? But I can amend 2013 when he didn't make any $ in the US?

Personally, I'd file married...

Also getting an UPDATED CURRENT police report - so that is within the 6 month expiration date.. (in preparation)

I did have a quick question - I only HAVE ONE ORIGINAL of all the BIrth Certificates and Marriage licence.. will the NVC want originals? wll the embassy also want origianals when I do an interview or will the NVC forward the originals onto them-- I don't care if I have any EXTRa ones at this time and I don't expect to get origianls back. but is ONE enough??

WHOA!!! I woke up to a case complete email.... AHHHH. So I got bad at not calling so I can only go by when I got my case complete/interview notice. But Saylin, can you update me on the spreadsheet smile.png !!!! I got my email that the case is complete Feb 27, and my interview date is April 2.

USCIS:

  • 02/25/13 : I-130 Filed NBC
  • 02/28/13 : NOA1
  • 10/23/13 : Case transferred to Nebraska Service center
  • 12/06/13 : NOA2

NVC:

  • 01/03/14 : Shipped to NVC.
  • 01/17/14 : NVC recieved the case.
  • 02/24/14 : Case number assigned and IIN/BIN.
  • 02/28/14 : DS-261 Available and completed.
  • 03/03/14 : Received e-mail to pay AOS Fee.
  • 03/04/14 : AOS invoice available and paid(In Process).
  • 03/04/14 : DS-261 Accepted.
  • 03/05/14 : AOS package sent to NVC.
  • 03/06/14 : AOS bill shows PAID.
  • 03/10/14 : AOS package received at NVC (Dock).
  • 03/12/14 : AOS entered into the System.
  • 03/18/14 : IV invoice available and paid(In Process).
  • 03/20/14 : IV package sent to NVC.
