Hi!

I'm trying to pay my IV online, but instead this pop out "This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately."

Does anybody know how long it takes to obtain an ITIN#?

Can we still file taxes jointly even when I don`t have an ITIN#?

I had to file for one for my husband, and took the paperwork down to the local IRS office on Jan 30, and we got his ITIN number in snail mail on the 15th of Feb, so it took us much less time to get the ITIN than I thought it would....hope this applies to you too (the IRS lady told me that since this is a really busy time of year it could take 4-8 weeks).

You can file your taxes Married Filing Jointly, but you will have to paper-file, not e-file. You'll have to put a statement in there that he's a non-resident alien (NRA) in the place where it asks for his ITIN number or SSN number.

You can add the W7 form with your taxes to apply for his ITIN at the same time, but be sure to include a certified-by-the-issuing-agency copy of his passport in there (meaning the copy of the passport must be made by the agency in his country that would give him the passport in the first place. It'll have a colored or embossed stamp on it certifying it as an authentic copy).

If you have any questions about this, just make a visit to your local IRS office, and they will help you. That's what I did.

Hey Saylin. How long will it take for Online forms and payments to be available after getting case and identification number? I got approved Feb 9 and called NVC on Feb 19 and they told me they just got my case and gave my case and identification number right then. I also gave both email address and name and DOB right then. Thanks

Please read posts 1 and 2 on the steps at NVC.

Also will you add me in spreadsheet? Thanks Saylin

Added!

I got a checklist for AOS. What does mean? In part 6, Item 13.a. NVC wants to include your 2012 taxes and income information. But I did properly fill up. I have proof that I did put 2012 in Tax information. I called NVC today and they said I have to send a new form of AOS by putting 2012 taxes information on Part 6, Item 13. a. What can I do now? Please suggest me and Check my AOS checklist is there anything more needed NVC or what they want actually from me???

[...]

Did you list the years right? Starting with 2012, 2011, then 2010? (And not 2010, 2011, and 2012) Did you use the correct numbers from your tax transcript?

Why is so hard to get IIN? The guy agent wasn't nice and its yelling at me when i say that im the beneficiary he told me that i need to wait for 30days to get the IIN?is that true i am now afraid calling them again. I saw some here in vj got there case number and IIN at the time. Do my husband need to them to get my IIN?

It doesn't take that long to get an IIN. And it doesn't matter who calls, the beneficiary or petitioner. Call back up in a few hours and try again.

Someone needs to read posts 1 and 2, specifically post 2, the FAQ, as there's an EXACT question/answer on this...

Hi Saylin,

NVC received our case yesterday Feb 24...could you please update the spreadsheet? Thank you!

The long wait for a case number begins.... smile.png

Hi all

I asked this question yesterday but it must have been missed. Does anyone know how checklists are usually sent out by NVC? Are they send by email by the officer as soon as the issue is spotted? Or do they arrive sometime after in the post?

We have not heard anything as of yet but I just wanted a heads up on how they are sent out to us.

Cheers

If they have email addresses on file, it will be sent that way. You won't receive it immediately though (as with all of the emails from NVC). That's why calling is always the fastest way to find things out.

No news is good news at NVC ;)

Saylin thank youso much. I just called now and the lady rep.gave my IIN and BIN:)
