So I called DOS in Washington, DC at 202-485-7600 this morning and they informed me that as of yesterday they are no longer able to answer any questions related to K-1 visas. They told me to contact NVC ... but they don't even answer!!

Just some useful information for us all.

NVC will answer the phone but will not tell you any additional information since the case left their office. So if your case was already sent to the embassy and additional info is needed, you have to contact the consulate. In Haiti, that's basically telling us we are in the dark as the contracted company they hired to field calls (CIVA) never knows anything and refuses to help. Beyond frustrated with this.... I posted a thread earlier on the same topic. At a loss for words to be honest. cray5ol.gif

Our interview was not quite two weeks ago (will be two weeks tomorrow) Not sure if the ? was directed at me but thought I would answer anway biggrin.png The embassy hadn't even reviewed our file nor uploaded it when we arrived. It took them 1-1/2hrs to locate our file when we arrived actually. They issued a 221-g pending additional review as they needed to confirm the validity of his divorce decree as Haiti has a high rate of forgery (or so we were told) Anyway, we were told before leaving that they would have an answer within 15-days.

NVC answers the phone. You'll just have to be patient holding on to the line. biggrin.png

Thanks smile.png I've been calling since this morning and it sounds busy.. I thankfully, I called my embassy and they told me the information what I wanted to know, so I don't need to contact NVC anymore.

Hey. No, he hasn't received the visa yet. The medical didn't arrive in time for the interview and the consulate ended up receiving it one day after the interview. Unfortunately, the CO gave us back the passport after we were approved (which he was not supposed to do) and that delayed everything. We ended up sending back the passport about a week or so after the interview. Due to so many holidays the were in the way and on top of that adding the normal processing time, our wait time was about 6 weeks after they received the passport. Luckily, we have been contacting the consulate every day and the continue to give us clear and valuable information relating to our case. As of now, our wait will soon be over.

Hopefully your wait is not as long as ours. We were also issued a 221g and the embassy in Dom. Rep. told us that the usual wait time was about 6 weeks or so. Call them and see what's going on. The wait is truly frustrating!

Just a little trick I did last week. I called during rush hour 6pm. I figure people are on their way home or cooking dinner...etc. So Instead of the regular hold time est. 25-30mins. It was 10 :) .
