"What Documents Do You Need to Prove Family Relationship?

You have to prove that there is a family relationship between you and your relative. If you are filing for:

1. A spouse, submit the following documentation:

A. A copy of your marriage certificate."

Definition of copy:

"Copies. Unless specifically required that an original document be filed with an application or petition, a legible photocopy may be submitted. Original documents submitted when not required may remain a part of the record, and will not automatically be returned to you."

Who knows, If it was a bogus RFI or not.. Maybe they wanted a original. Maybe they thought the copy wasn't legible. Maybe they thought it should have a different type certified stamp. Maybe it was a bad day for the IO. Or Maybe they are just pushing RFIs to get it out of queue.

"Requests for More Information. We may request more information or evidence, or we may request that you appear at a USCIS office for an interview. We may also request that you submit the originals of any copy. We will return these originals when they are no longer needed."

They're not required. Most people send in photocopies (I did!). I'm convinced that TSC sent her an RFE because it would extend the amount of time they had to process her case while at the same time removing her from the processing date queue so that even if they take another month or two to get to her case, it won't count against them.

It's not like that's a new tactic from them.

Sorry for scaring you r06, I guess I was the one in the wrong thinking it had to be certified! But seeing as though I did send in a certified copy, it should have been obvious that it was registered. You can't get a certified copy without it being registered. *sigh*

Annnyways. Let me get off VJ before I get all angry at life again.

The trend updates are in:

it shows that the service centers processed teh following I-130:

CSC: 7679

NSC: 6040

TSC: 4002

VSC: 939

the backlog for service centers as of November 30 is:

CSC: 14175

NSC: 52885

TSC: 20621

VSC: 14598

I'm not really sure why USCIS is transferring petitions to Nebraska when their work load is higher than the other 3 service centers together.

This is crazy and shows that USCIS does not have a clear method of what they are doing!!!!

I give up trying to figure out USCIS. Look at the number of July filers who have received their NOA2's and yet earlier filers are waiting. Disgraceful!! They're a law unto themselves.

I agree that letters to Congress would be more beneficial. We need to get the facts out that really, USCIS is spinning their wheels and transparency is needed. This will not go away unless revisions are made and brought to light.

If you average completions by month in the data range available in the .csv file those volume charts are based on you get 39,335 completions per month. With the workload transfer we saw an increase of 12,909 more completions than the previous month. Sadly 39,274 completions is just about average for USCIS and backlogged petitioners should expect better.

If your backlogged petition is older than March XX, 2013 processing timeframe listed on the current processing tables for your service center then it is in your best interest to file a service request. Photocopy your service request documentation and mail it to the Ombudsman with a letter formally complaining about the backlog.

USCIS has formed an Action Team to streamline

States citizens and permanent residents. The long-stand

-ing process first requires adjudication of a Petition for Alien

Relative (Form I-130) to determine if a relationship exists that

comports with the statute. Once that petition is approved, the

applicant either files for adjustment of status to permanent

resident in the United States or files for an immigrant visa

abroad at a United States Embassy or Consulate, where the re

-lationship issue is again adjudicated. USCIS is exploring ways

in which to eliminate the duplicative effort that the current

process mandates.
