I am late registered. I passed my birth certificate when we apply I-130 the late registered last year. So today i went in NSO to get another birth certificate, i was shocked it appears my old birth certificate. NVC and US Embassy Manila need my NSO birth certificate but the problem is the late registered birth certificate is locked already. I only have one B.C here (late registered) idk what to do now. We are in NVC stage now. They will allow the Certified true copy? Thanks for the answer.

I am not sure I understand.... you never had a birth cert, so registered to get one last year (late register). Then when you requested another copy this year, they gave you your original birth cert, from when you were born may years ago?Is there different info on the two certs?

I have two B.C. The original ( i was born) and the late registered (10 years old). i was using the late registered since i was 12 years old. Everytime i get my b.c in NSO they giving me the late registered copy.. my mom changed my b.c because lots of errors which is late registered we called here. Then today they gave me the original which lot of errors (my parents last name, my middle name) and said my late registered is locked already because i have two registrations. They telling me now to hire a lawyer and cancel the original and unlocked the late registered b.c. Which it will take 6 months. I sent my late registered b.c in USCIS last year. Im worried because NVC need B.C and during interview same what i sent in USCIS.. I only have one copy here of my late registered which im going to send in NVC but during interview can i show them just photocopy? Im going to process my b.c which i will cancel my original and unlocked the late registered while our case is not yet complete.. I hope it wont cause delay for my visa. Anytime soon we will get our case number.. Sorry if you didnt understand my post, im not good in english.. i cried a lot today.

Why did you apply for late registration if you have a BC in the first place? You should have fix all the mistakes in it rather than having a late registration. But anyways, NVC needs only the original BC unless they will require you to bring one during your interview and all original documents will be send to Embassy.Have loads of photocopy in case. And for the meantime start fixing your BC.

GOODLUCK

My mom applied for late registration when i was 10. Because theres a lot of errors. So her sister said better to late registered and fixing every letter of my name, my parents last names will cost a lot. In monday im going to see a lawyer and fix it. Im hoping it wont take too long to cancel my original. Thanks for the reply. :)

Your mom was ill advised. Late registration is only for those who NEVER had a BC in the first place.

NVC will require that you submit your original NSO BC, they will not accept certified true copy or photocopy.

Good luck.

I am surprised that the late registration was even accepted since you had an existing BC. The application shouldn't have gone through if NSO's database works perfectly, but it didn't at that time, and now, apparently, it does. I'm not a pro but IMO, it's not a good idea if you submit your late-registered BC to NVC now, even though it will take you some time before you get your first BC fixed. You might run into more problems in the future since the late-registerd BC has to be identical to the first one.

Just curious, sis, how erroneous was the first BC anyways?

You only need to send the birth certificate to the NVC. The NVC will send it to the embassy so I'm unsure where the problem is. Also if you want the birth certificate back from the USCIS you'll have to use a form to request it back.

The NVC will send your documents to the consulate so you will get it back at the interview. You do not need to take your birth certificate to the interview, they will have it from your IV documents that is sent to the NVC.
