Brazil portal information wrong for K1 documents

We had our K1 interview scheduled today at Rio de Janeiro. When our interview was scheduled, we went to the Rio consulate web page downloaded the instructions for what documents to bring and they were the same as those listed on the VJ Brazil portal. But it seems they have now changed the requirements ... now the DS-160 is required, not the DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-157. This is effective January 1, 2014. People whose interviews were scheduled after October 7

So we had the wrong documents and got turned away ... rescheduled for Thursday (January 16). We had to scramble and rebook hotels and flights (Edgar lives in Sao Paulo and we were not planning to stay in Rio after the interview, and I was supposed to fly back to the US on Wednesday) and then fill out the DS-160 online and find a way to get the confirmation page printed here at our Rio hotel, which was not easy. But we did it and hopefully it will go a lot better on Thursday.

But beware -- if you don't have a DS-160 with the confirmation page at your Rio interview, you WILL NOT be seen. Contrary to the instructions you may have seen here or on the Rio consulate web page. (I wish the consulate web page would note that the instruction PDF has been updated ... otherwise why would you go and download the PDF again?)

Frustrated but hopeful ... David

David,

Sorry to hear about the mix-up. Things will be fine on Thursday for sure. In the meantime, take a little time to enjoy Rio and get yout minds off of this craziness!
