Dual citizenship- does it matter that my passport isn't from the UK?!?

Hi!

I am a UK citizen ( born and bred here) but my Mother is Irish so I've always had an Irish Passport as I am entitled to do so.

Does it matter that I will be going to the London Embassy with my Irish passport? Or do I need to apply for a UK passport?

You will process (just like everybody else going to London) with your Irish passport as long as you reside in the UK. People process there who were born all over and may be in the UK as students for example or from another EU country. I know of people who interviewed in London with passports from India, Pakistan, Brazil, France, Australia, Nigeria, and South Africa.

I am also a UK citizen who is entitled to hold an Irish Passport but never seen the reason to have one. Can you tell me what advantages there might be to having one?
