OMG.....I have never heard of the 1 way ticket dilemma...it may be a good idea

to start another thread/topic on this issue so everyone can see this. So many people

have asked about that and all replies I have seen were always: no problem, 1 way is fine.

That is sooooo ridiculous like everything else ! I hate to think what would have happened

if you weren't able to wire the extra funds immediatley....I can't believe this crazy

process, I really can't.....

On a lighter note, what time does he arrive ? Wish I were a fly on the wall in the airport.

Every time I read your posts I cry! Can't wait for the happy ending !

Well, as much as I hate to say this, there is very little in Egypt that is "standard operating procedure"... or at least that is followed. Who knows, the guys working there could have seen a young, wet-behind the ears traveller who was travelling to a bank account, er I mean America, and decided to line their pockets. I am in no way bashing Egyptian government, but anyone who has been there and gotten their sleeves wet in the culture knows this is very real. All I know is its paid, yet another 10 years has been removed from my life span, but he is on his way. (And please I don't want anyone to start controversy over my words.)

His flight is due to arrive in New York after 3 pm.

Jean the same thing happened to Hicham. The ticket office where he bought his ticket wouldn't allow him to get a one way ticket on a K-1 because they said they only sell one way tickets to people with immigrant visas. Apparently if he had bought it in a different office they would have allowed it. I spent a lot of time on the phone trying to explain that it's ok for him to have a one way ticket but that didn't matter. He ended up buying a roundtrip ticket as well and paid about 200$ more in the end.

I think it just depends on who you buy the ticket from. I know just about everyone else bought one way tickets from MOrocco with K-1's.

Sure sucks when they're about to board a plane and find this out!!! Ha ha. Anyway, thanks Sarah. Just a good head's up for those travelling in the future. Be prepared for last minute surprises. Ick.

I'm just hoping there are no more in store for us. Now I'm off to the store for the bay leaves I forgot (of course) and to start the soup.

I know it's weird that it happened to Hicham and Mohammed... oh well at least he got on the plane!

I was also very nervous when Hicham was coming and I didn't sleep much the night before he got on the plane which was about 4 am my time. I sat in my bed all day staring at my cell phone waiting for him to call me from JFK and after I talked to him there I was much more calm and able to be more productive.

Good luck and enjoy! What time is he due at home? How far do you have to go to pick him up?

He is due into here at 10 pm. IF... I will start waiting for his call in about an hour. I only have about a 10 to 15 minute drive to go get him. I'm not far from the airport.

He's got his visa in his hands. My cell phone is going berzerk. HE'S GOT HIS VISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH GOD I'M AT WORK AND I WANT TO DANCE AND CRY AND SCREAM AND DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I have to sit here and be professional. There is a supervisor stalking around tryinig to figure out who's cell phone keeps dinging. Hahahahaha.

No she's not on the West Coast. I think she's in Kansas or something like that.
