Hi Everyone!

My husband is an American Citizen (I'm Canadian). Our petition was accepted on September 30, 2013. We have heard NOTHING back from NBC.

It's been 5 months

Any news as to when we can see any progress?

Expect another 6 month wait at least realistically speaking. They are working on the backlog of folks that were stacked up at NBC since January.

Oh dear you are looking at 8 months to a year to green card. They are just processing March through May filers and at a snails pace. Maybe things will pick up. I know USCIS estimates 16 months.

After USCIS approval you have 2 to 4 months to process through NVC than you wait for interview which could be another 1 to 2 month wait just to get interview.

All these transferrs here and there has just caused alot of confusion and not much movement. Hopefully with the ebb and flow of USCIS that wiill change.

Because thats what it is an average.

Here this is the game USCIS does. I know 10 people just for Nigeria been waiting since January, February and March. so what they do is get new filers (you read on here all the time "I was approved in 20 days) well guess what they just brought their 1 year average down. The average 2 months ago was 16 months on the USCIS site. So they started adjudicating recent folks. August, September filers of 2013 were being approved before August, September 2012 and there were many.

You are going to see alot of recent before the older petitions. And that too is because the petitions before May 2013 were sent mainly to the local offices which are beyond backlogged poor Atlanta is predicting 2 years. I know two files in March 2012 with me and just got approved in August 2013 It took me 3 months. It's all a numbers game.

Its just a number doesn't mean they have to meet it or anything and really its just a bogus guide. The VJ timelines are more accurate than the USCIS.

I agree, now if we could just get members to start and update their timelines as they go along. It would make life much better for those who wait. I now check to see if someone posting has a timeline. If they do not I simply don't respond to their request, assuming of course they have already been advised to start a timeline. If moderators did one thing that really mattered it would be for them to ask posters to start timelines. But of course that is just my humble opinion.

Wow... really? That totally SUCKS. What drives me crazy is that i can drive to see my husband in under 12 hours. Easy day trip. So much for friendly borders

Exactly - following your thread for the month you files and see when people start getting approvals and rfe's is far more reliable.

Good luck on your journey and I totally hope they get this process sped up and take care of the backlog soon

First of all, I hope you get some action soon; I hope we all do! But, at the risk of being one of the grouchy people, September 30 to now is just over 3 months, not 5. The clock doesn't start until they send the noa1.

And you're right... It's 4 months of waiting... I had confused that with how long I had not see my husband. Before his visit this Christmas it was the first week of August when I had seen him. Sorry folks. It's only been four months since filing.
