NOA2 Confusion

I received my NOA2 today in the mail, with an approval date of 19 Dec 13, and I am really confused on how to proceed at this point. I figured it would include some information about the NVC, a case number, something in order to continue tracking it. It states that "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance." I saw some copies of what other people's NOA2's look like and they all specifically say that they were sent to the NVC for processing.

So, I am confused on whether I need to contact the NVC for a case number and follow that route (once the holidays are over) or if we are good to begin processing all the documentation to setup an interview. My fiance hasn't received anything yet.

Yes you can start calling NVC to get your case#. Than follow-up with your embassy. Don't be dicouraged when NVC says it takes 8 weeks for your petition to get there. It might but it could be less so call and call till you get that case#.

Waiting for them to email you and than the embassy you could very well lose 2 to 4 months waiting on them.

Congratulations.

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Thailand

First thing you need to do is fill in your time line so we can help you better. smile.png

Next thing you need to do is slow down and relax. We are in the Holiday season. Everything seems to be running a bit longer then average.

The type of Visa will determine timing at NVC. We need to know that before we can offer assistance.

A lot of good info is available here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/

Looks like for a K-1 average time through NVC is 27 days. If you are applying for a CR-1 timing will be different.

Personally, I had better success emailing NVC rather then phone.
