Heeey Everyone!

I know in the I-129F form they ask you to specify what embassy your spouse will be working with....

Well, in Canada it's either Montreal or Vancouver - do we have a choice or is it something that you choose...

This question is of pressing nature now that Montreal is going through a challening time?

Thanks!

You choose.. and I highly recommend the Vancouver location because their work load is not as big as Montreal. If you choose Montreal, be prepared for a long wait for an interview! Also, according to other VJers, starting Jan, 2007, you will not have the option of picking up your visa the next day. It will be MAILED TO YOU. If I have a choice, I'd pick Vancouver. No question about it!

Technically, you don't have a choice. If you live Ontario and east, you go through Montreal. If you live west of Ontario, then you go to Vancouver. However, a few of us have successfully transferred from Montreal to Vancouver, though you need to supply an address in the Vancouver service area. When we filled out the I-129F, we had no idea only Montreal and Vancouver did the interviews, and I think we put down Toronto, so it really doesn't matter what you write down, the NVC will pick the appropriate consulate.

We actually requested Montreal on our form but were given Vancouver because that is where my fiance lives. I would recommend Vancouver though ..... seems to be quicker with appointments.

Yep, from what I understand (and what others have said), they will pick the consulate for you depending on where you live. I am planning on transferring to Vancouver when my I-129 is approved as I have an address in Vancouver I can use.
