I am trying to figure out the timelines but I cant seem to understand them. Im in California, I just wanted to see what the normal time frame is once you file. I sent out the packet and got my NOA1 on 9/11. And then how long after I respond at the NVC level...does it take to get to the embassy in Nigeria? (if there is no rfe)

You sure you were sent to California? Does your receipt # start with CSC or MSC?

With all the transfers and backlogs its really hard to say how long its all over the place. But expect 6 to 8 months for NOA2 approval at USCIS.

Than off to NVC and that in itself is another wait for some could take 2 weeks could take 8 weeks. Thats just your petition gettng to NVC.

Once there and inputted and you get a case# you get to do alittle driving so its best to have all your ducks in a row.

Since this is Nigeria DO NOT get police report until you are at NVC with case# assigned. Than you can go get (it has a 3 mnoth shelf life) NVC is easily a 2 to 4 month ordeal and thats without issues (checklist we call them there ).

Once Case Complete than you are in queue for interview and that can be 1 to 3 months usually about 2 months is the norm.

While you are waiting for NOA2 come here to NVC filers thread read post #1 and #2 so you know what is next step and things you can do now like have Affidavit of support package together.

Oh you called USCIS? Expedite your form. He can't do that. You would have to qualify for an expedite and submit the evidence to be approved for that.

He probably meant he was submitting a service order to find out what is going on. Usually takes about 30 to 60 days to hear anything. And they will probably tell you what you already been told.

Right now MSC (Missouri Service Center - Either Overland Park, Kansas or Lee Summit Missouri you are at) is saying they are processing March/April filers so still way behind. So all you can do is wait at this point.

Yes, probably should expect 6 to 8 months more months. That is where people hate the most... being left in the dark praying that the papers actually made it and did not get lost.

It's sad we have to wait so long, but they literally get thousands of immigration petitions a day, and they stopped adjudicating I-130s for a good few months this year due to other petitions taking priority.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

This from another post..

""Currently the National Benefits Center is working on cases filed early April 2013 and the wait time is about one year from the filing date. USCIS hopes to bring the wait time to the 5 month goal. In order to do this, they are moving cases to equalize workflows. We don’t know when they will catch up to meet their goal, and this is just one step of the process. Because there are many factors, any timeline is a guess. In addition, each case is different so some cases take much longer."
