Do I need to send an original NBI Clearance to NVC in support of DS-260? If so, can it be the short version or does it have to be the long version?

Yes, send the original NBI clearance (green, for travel abroad).

Just send the "top half", the beneficiary keeps the "bottom half" (the personal copy).

Dont send any originals

Wrong. The NVC requires original NBI clearance.

My apologies Bammo...I was reading Birth Cert in my brain, not NBI clearance.

NVC also requires original NSO birth certificate. wink.png

The NBI Clearance has a top and bottom portion. The bottom portion is the "personal copy". I'm submitting the top portion to NVC in support of the DS/260. My question is, will my wife only need the bottom portion (the personal copy) for the interview at the embassy in Manila? Or does she need to get another NBI clearance so that she will have the top portion for the interview?

Yes, she will bring the "personal copy" to the interview but rarely that the consul asks for it as long as the NBI clearance she submitted to NVC is less than a year old at the time of the interview.

NBI clearance is only valid for one year.

I'm told they are good for one year.

Yes, it is valid for one year, however ive also read from some posts that nvc wants police reports that are at least 6 months old..not sure if it also applies to our nbi clearance though..
