Removing conditions and joining the military

Hi guys,

My husband is military and we received orders overseas last January. Before leaving the US I talked to a few people at the 800 line and asked them what will happen since my husbands orders were issues for a period of 3 years and my GC expires in September of 06. They said I need to file for a re-entry permit and that is it. Later on I found about one of the immigration laws that expedite the process for military spouses of getting their citizenship so I called those guys again and asked them if it is necessary to file for lifting my conditions since I want to apply for citizenship. They said no, they said in between September (the date when my card expires) and January of 07 (the date when I can apply for citizenship) it is not mandatory to apply for lifting my conditions. So 3 months prior to my card getting expired I did not filled for the I-751. In the meanwhile I decided that I want to join the military and would like to do it pretty soon. I went to my AF recruiter and talked to him, he says I need a CG valid for at least 2 years. So I went to the embassy in London and talked to an immigration officer who told me that it doesnt matter when you file for 751 as long as you do it in a reasonable amount of time. He said there is a 3 month grace period for military spouses stationed abroad and since I was in that period to go ahea and file it in order to get the I 797 and start the military processing.

Now, from this whole story does everything sound alright to you? I know the people from 800 have no idea what they are talking about and it is my fault I listened to them and believed them when they told me not to file for lifting conditions. How about this period of grace? Have anyone ever heard of it? Is the USCIS going to send my package back and tell me that I lost all my rights and I have to start everything al over again?

I am in a complete darkness and I dont even know how to structure my questions as I have too many but could you please illuminate me a little about what is going on?

Thank you so much for all your help, I really appreciate it.

I've read here you can adjust from oversea once your husband has a military order, you are not abandoning your residence. There are some folks here one case I read from Germany will give you more input
