The intructions also state to "Make sure to sign and date it." Do both the Petitioner AND the Beneficiary need to sign it or just the Petitioner? My gut feeling says just the petitioner.

thanks so much!!

sorry to ask again, but does anyone know the answer to the above question? :D:whistle:

Do we both need to sign the declaration??

thanks!

It is only necessary for the petitioner (the USC) to sign it. Your non-USC fiance has to sign the g-325a forms (all four sheets) and their letter of intent. Make sure the signatures are original.

I do not know the answer to your question since I filed for a spouse not a fiance and this was not part of my application, but I wish you luck and hopefully someone can answer you this evening as they get home from work.

Yes, only the petitioner is required to sign the statement.

Also, note that the burden falls upon you to prove that you've met in the two years prior to the petition. A copy of your passport stamp, if you traveled abroad, is generally considered primary evidence; boarding passes are only secondary evidence which support your primary evidence.

I got RFE'd for that.

Conditions Removed! Ten-year green card received 6/24/2009. No more USCIS for a very long time.

I am one of the believers in 'more is better' so added a supplemental sheet and explained how we met.

Mine was just one line.

I have nothing relevant to add to this topic, but I just wanted to quote this person who's screen name is really making a bold assertion that I'm not sure is actually true.

I used a lwayer to file our K-1 visa. My layer just wrote met while visiting Vietnam. I called to discuss this with them several times, because we first got to know each other online. I explained that after corresponding thru emails, chat's, and phone conversations for a few months, I asked if I could come visit her to see if we had true love. My lawyer told me to write how we physically met for the first time. So we wrote "While visiting Vietnam". He then told me at the interview she can explain we first contacted online and I asked her permission to come see her, and to see if there was love. Then go into details. I just got my NOA2 today, so it must be correct.

They might ask you how come he went to Vietnam. So yeah, you would have to explain the circumstances.

Didn´t read anywhere I (alien fiancee) had to sign it. Especially since it´s the petitioner that is giving this declaration as an answer in I-129F form. If you answer in the space given by the question, you don´t need an extra signature, since it will be signed at the bottom of the form. So if us (alien fiancees) don´t have to sign I-129F form, we don´t need to sign the declaration either.

What does surprise me is that Q.18 is treated so lightly by offering up a simple one sentence when it asks you to describe how you met.

When Q. 6 asks for Marital status, and when one is divorced or widowed they must submit documentary evidence to support that answer. (A requirement to prove that you can legally marry?)

When Q. 10 asks for how one acquired citizenship, one must submit the respective documentary evidence of such to support that answer. (US Citizenship is a requirement for a petion to be eligible)

18. Has your fiance(e) met and seen you within the two-year period immediately preceding the filing of this petition? Yes No

Describe the circumstances under which you met. (One must submit documentary evidence of meeting this requirement in order for a petition to be eliglible.)

Documentary evidence is submitted in support of answers on the I-129F. Whilst some have only put simple one line answer to Q.18 and its been accepted, another may not. Use the question to describe in your own words how you met....at least in some detail. The evidence one then submits supports this statement. Remember you are trying to create a picture in the minds eye of an adjudicator that doesn't know you or your fiance from a bar of soap. Give him something to read by way of some detail whilst using the evidence you submitted to support what you are describing. Create the whole picture. A little more detail in ones statement perhaps is all that an adjudictor may require to complete that picture. Why leave it to chance. Use the question to your advantage.

Best to start your own thread. This thread is 9 years old, and most of the posters here are no longer even on VJ.

Edit: this thread was even older than I first noticed!
