Ohmygod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am actually in the States with my honey We were terrified to attempt a border crossing after being refused in Vancouver ("allowed to withdraw petition for entry") so the plan was that we would meet in Montreal and stay in a B&B in a town close to the Vermont border (so I could drive 1 1/2 to work each day). Well, we got there today, checked in and then basically STARED at America (the crossing was SOOOO close). After debating the wisdom of this and again taking leave of my senses, I drove the 1/8 mile to the border crossing to talk to the guard and explain the situation. My fiance did NOT come with me ..... this way, we were "information seeking" rather than him actively trying to gain entry. Well, the guard gave me his supervisor's number, I called the (incredible nice) supervisor, explained the situation and described the proof we had that my fiance plans to return to Canada and was told to go back to the border crossing with my fiance. We did, spent about 25 minutes with very nice guards, told our story again, showed some documentation and was given a B-2 visitor visa (paper says he has to leave the country by a certain date). I am soooooo happy now that we get to spend Christmas in our home together!!! It was a wonderful experience with the border guards (as compared to our last experience). They were so nice to speak to me about the situation first and give me advice (that made us feel better about the border crossing, we didn't just make a blind attempt).

Had to post that. Now I am going to go enjoy being home with him :)

Congrats on the successful crossing.

I travelled so often from Canada to the U.S. to see my fiance and had no problems whatsoever, even while the K-1 visa was being processed. I just made sure I took plenty of evidence that I was planning on returning to Canada after my visit and that was it.
