I would say that it's cheaper for USCIS to send a copy rather then printing it on the old style of papers. Saving money. I could be wrong but it makes sense to me lol.

Had my interview today in Pittsburgh and delighted to say I passed!

Appointment was at 11.30 and got to the office around 10.35 but they let me go in early. There was one person in front of me and I got called back around 11.20.

Interview was only around 20 minutes. The IO started off by swearing me in. Then we chatted about how I met my spouse and our journey so far. Then she pulled out my file, crazy to see all the documents we sent in over the year, probably 3-4 inches thick!

Then we reviewed my application, updated my employment status and a mistake I had made on a previous address. I marked that I had a speeding ticket and brought proof that I had paid it (even though it was only $80). She also asked about my 2013 taxes, I showed her my transcript for that year.

Then there was the English. She asked me to read a sentence (Who lives in the White House?) And on another paper told me to write 'The President lives in the White House'. Then I had my civics questions:

What promise do you make when you some a US citizen?

Where is the statue of liberty located?

Name two US holidays

Who is the governed of the state?

Who was the first president?

What was the movement to end racial discrimination called?

Since I answered all six correctly, the IO stopped there. Then she gave me a piece of paper saying congratulation I was approved! Was also told that there's an oath ceremony near me on April 11 that she was going to try and get me into and I should know in about two weeks.

All in all a very pleasant experience and no need to be as nervous as I was! Great to think this long journey is almost over :-)

Hey everyone! Sorry I've disappeared... After USCIS sent me for biometrics on a federal holiday and I found it closed (01/20), I only found time to go do it a couple of weeks ago on 03/07 (without a new letter, that they never sent me as they said they would). After all that, at least things appear to be happening fast this last week - I already received my interview letter yesterday. Updated timeline below. Have to catch up with all your posts now :P AND start studying, as I haven't done it at all up to now. Ugh... any suggestions to memorize things? It's so random...

Hi Mimigrant,you've really disappeared..to study,you can download free app on the appstore or google appstore..you just type in "us citizenship" and you will get a bunch of app to choose from..i dont even use the book they gave me at my biometrics. The app i use has everything. It is called "us civics test" congrats for your interview letter,and i am still waiting for mine,it has been 49 days now...but it's it will come. I am not gonna complain when it's almost over.. It's almost over...Just be positive!!!!!

My Oath Letter was sent and i was schedule for oath today.

Oath Ceremony

On March 18, 2014, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval. Many offices schedule approved applicants for the oath ceremony on the same day as the day of the interview. Please check the local office profile page on our website to determine if the office where you will be interviewed schedules same day oath ceremonies.

Thanks, nounou! I'm baaack now! To be honest I had also lost my password and was lazy to recover it so it took me a while to come back here.

I have a few apps on my phone but I had a feeling it might be easier to use their booklet, visually speaking. I don't know. Have to try both and see, I guess. thanks for the tip smile.png

Hi Mimigrant,you've really disappeared..to study,you can download free app on the appstore or google appstore..you just type in "us citizenship" and you will get a bunch of app to choose from..i dont even use the book they gave me at my biometrics.
