Just Sent I-130-- Evolution of Relationship Letter has Wrong Date

My wife pointed it out to me about 4 hours after I sent it. I put the wrong date for our religious ceremony on our EOR letter. It was August 15th and I put June 15th, probably because our engagement ceremony was then and I was really tired when I wrote it and proofed it. I tried to stop UPS from shipping it but they did not succeed in this endeavor. What should I do now? Will this cause an RFE? Should I cancel my check? Cancel the application?

i suggest a different thing.

it's been done before, reported on here at VJ.

ONCE you have the I-797C, the receipt notice (we call it NOA-1 here in VJ-speak)

make a copy of it, make a cover letter explaining the mistake asking the attachment be added to the casefile, and an updated EOR letter,

and then

mail all back to the address in the I-797C letter.

I say give that a whirl, before any massive freakout.

This is not likely to cause an RFE. There is no application to cancel because you did not submit an application, you submitted a petition. Placing a stop payment on the check is an option; however, you have another option and that is to submit an amended letter with the civil documents once your file reaches the NVC.

yup, can always submit the 'right' version into NVC with the CIVIL docs for the DS-260 stuff.

So even though my wedding photos say "August 15" and my EOR says "June 15" I shouldn't get an RFE from the USCIS adjudicator? Also I feel like if I send an amended letter it won't ever get where it needs to go.

Yes, if you try to send it to USCIS, it likely will not get matched with your file (which is why I usually say sending items to USCIS unsolicited is usually nothing more than an exercise in futility).

HOWEVER, when the time comes to send material to the NVC, simply include an amended along with the required items that are sent as part of the DS-260 package and then it will go where it needs to go.

But will I even get there? Won't I get an RFE at the I-130 stage because of the date discrepancy?

Update: I called UPS back and they said they could hold it now that it's in Chicago.

I talked to a supervisor and got her name, so hopefully they can actually do it now.

Also after 30 mins still on hold for Tier 2 .........

Update: UPS delivered it despite frequent assurances that they would not. Looks like I am screwed. Note to VJer's: NEVER ship anything through UPS, they suck and they lie like the USCIS themselves.

No one can say for certain whether or not you will receive an RFE.

Yes the package goes to the Embassy or Consulate.

As I previously stated, if you don't receive an RFE, you will have the opportunity to submit an amended letter before the entire package reaches the Embassy or Consulate.
