Does being a CCP member make things difficult? I should as my fiance if she is a member... I never even heard of that. I thought since China was communist, everyone would be a member!

Certainly one of those confusing issues.

There was a case I read about where someone applying for Naturalisation had ticketed the Yes box about has ever been a member of or in any way associated (either directly or indirectly) with the Communist Party or any other totalitarian party, or ever advocated (either directly or indirectly) the overthrow of any government by force or violence.

He served with the Marines in Iraq.

The Interviewing Officer crossed the Yes out and replaced it with No. On what basis was never clarified.

Hello Bob,

I disclosed her membership on the initial I-129 form. I provided letters including one of her disclosing her membership and the reason she joined (for better job and pay) as well as her intent to discontinue her membership after she receives fiance visa approval and a letter disclosing my knowledge of her being a CCP member. Her interview went well, now we are in Administrative processing status. I will keep you posted..

Yes, being a CCP member makes things difficult, See:

INA: ACT 212 - GENERAL CLASSES OF ALIENS INELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE VISAS AND INELIGIBLE FOR ADMISSION; WAIVERS OF INADMISSIBILLITY

(a) (3) (D)

Don't think everyone in the PRC is a member of the Party (you can do the math):

Good luck on your visa journey.

But you really have no choice. To lie and say NO is visa fraud, and we know what happens to folks who do that.

Yoiu did the right thing to disclose it and explain why.
