Hello everyone! I am new to this and I wanted to know how long the waiting period will be after I submit my I-129F packet. I did some research and read that it will take around 6-9 months or possibly more. I have a question for those who petitioned their significant other over from the Netherlands: how many days and/or months did you both wait until you receive a letter for the interview and the approval for the visa? The reason why I am asking is, of course I cannot wait to see my man, but also to get things organized over here on my side, e.g. wedding planning and other appointments. Plus any advice would be useful to this newbie! Thanks in advance!! content.gif

Depends on a couple different factors on the American side too...which processing centre ends up working on your file...etc. there may be a Netherlands-specific location sub forum (under general I do believe) that they may be able to help you out with finding out how long it takes or how much of a backlog there is with the embassy when things get approved.

It's hard to plan things that far in advance though since it is government, you never know what could happen/how long they take.

It looks like you will be processed at the California service center. This seems to have been giving quick approvals, however then takes a while to send the documents to the national visa center. This particular part of the process doesnt matter what country your partner is from - it is supposed to work based on first come first serve - however it usually tends to move out of order.

We were processed at the Texas service center and got our approval in 70 days. Once it is at NVC, they get everything set up and eventually send it off to the embassy - for us, that stage took about 2 weeks. Once the embassy has your application - you have to complete packet 3, do a medical and then they will issue an interview date. For that part - it really depends how fast you are getting everything completed.

You can see my timeline in my signature area and also by clicking timeline. We sent ours in towards the end of July and have our interview date Dec. 5. Not sure how much will be different though since you are at the california center and not the texas.

Thank you everyone for your helpful advice! It has been a hectic week gathering all the important documents for the I-129F form, but I know it's worth it, especially without the help and cost of an immigration lawyer because of this VisaJourney!

As for the waiting period, I hope the process goes along quickly, but if not I can wait and keep checking and checking and checking.....

Moreover, it is a good idea to wait for the K-1 visa approved first before I get things rolling over here. Oh my gosh, I just realized how real this is!

Dank je wel allemaal!

Groetjes and Happy Sinteklaas! dancin5hr.gif
