Withdrawal of I130, repercussions for future petition?

I tried to look this up but almost all of the withdrawals are because a couple is splitting up.

My husband and I are not splitting up. But because the process is taking way longer than expected, and we're both ready to move out of Costa Rica, we've looked at other opportunities abroad. Found a great job for my husband in Europe and he's applying. Obviously we don't know he'll get the position, but if he does and we withdraw I130 (not yet approved), will we face any other issues when trying to apply later? We do eventually want to move back to the USA, but the process is just too freaking long right now. Hoping in another few years it will be better. Who knows.

Anyways. It seems like it should be okay to withdraw, am I correct in thinking this? Thanks!

I wouldn't withdraw anything. Approved petition will be in NVC and all you'll have to do is check in with them every 11 months or so (every year is the rule) so they don't send it to storage. When you're ready to interview you email them and send the required paperwork.

After you get NOA2 approval I wouldn't be calling up NVC asking about the case number - they'll notify you themselves (email) they have your petition and what the NVC number it is.

From that email date you have a year to get in touch with them so mark your calendar. Yes, you won't be sending them anything until you're ready just keeping in touch every I'd say 11 months.

I think they prefer email - NVCInquiry@state.gov I think is the email address. Just let them know you will proceed at a later date and email later that you're still working on it.

Millimelo is dead on point. Pleaseeeeeee don't do anything but contact NVC once a year (email is best you have a paper trail).

Never give up or in and congrats on the new job in Europe (sounds so much more fun).

So when they contact me, I'll tell them I plan on proceeding at a later date. Then in about 10 months I'll email them again saying I'm still working on the process and will proceed at a later date. Etc, etc, until we actually want to go back to the USA?
