Hi Everyone,

Thank you for helping me and answering my questions. I am just starting out on my journey and have some questions on the "relationship proof" for the I-129F and I-130. The "proof" actually is only for the interview at the consulate, right? (not given when you apply I-129F or I-130..) I have read some of the "proof" that you need to prove that you have a valid relationship.. Also, for the I-864 (Affadivit of Support), I would need 2-3 recent pay stubs and bank assets.. would giving them more help so they can't complain (maybe give 4-5?) Thanks.

So far, I have the following I can give them - I figure by giving them "double" or "triple" of what they want, they won't be able to complain and send RFE's (that's just my opinion, not sure):

1) Pictures

(How many do you usually need to show?) what would be the best pictures to get? pictures of me with her parents / family / and her in different places? (more people the better?)

2) Phone Records

(I call every week using my house phone to her house phone.. but most of the time I use Skype - my current records started from 11/05 - 10/06.. I call everyday  so about 200+ records each month.. meaning I have a year's worth of 200+ records (2000+ records so far?).. would it be more beneficial to spread them out (ex. get 11/05,12/05, 3/06, 4/06, 5/06, 11/06, 12/06, 3/07, 4/07 (when I start to apply).. ??

3) Packages + Cards

We have some packages (brown boxes) with custom forms still on them.. and also have different cards (Christmas, Birthday, Valentine's Day..)

4) Passport

I visited her in 05/05 - 08/05, 03/06 (about a week), and planning to go 03/07 - 1 week (get married), and 09/07 - 1 week to 2 weeks (wedding ceremony); these will show up on my passport , and future trips too, up until the interview.. so it should be enough?

Not sure of any more "proof" I can give.. can anyone give me any advice and the number of each "item" needed?

Thanks,

Michael

I am not at that stage yet, but from what I have read you seem to have plenty of things to show. Many seem to bring as much as they can, because you never know. Some people at the Interview may be asked for these things, some not. They may look at one or two things and be satisfied with that. It never hurts to be over prepared.

For the petition you only need to explain how you met in person within the past 2 years as that's the qualification. Your fiancee will need proof at the interview.

Proof is just things that show a continued relationship. Things like pictures of you together and with her family if possible. Your passport showing your stamps in and out of the country. Your boarding passes for the flights. Communication (letters, cards, Email, chat, etc). I think others will recommend similar but I'm not sure how much is too much! ;)

As long as i understand your scenario you are applying for a K-3 visa for your wife? am I rite?

Then yes, u will need all the proofs at the time of interview, however, while posting you I-130 you will be sending them copy of your marriage certificate, and once you get Notice of Reciept(NOA-1) from service center, you will post I-129F to them, again supporting documents required Include your marriage certificate.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the quick replies! Yes, I just wanted to be prepared as best as I can for the US and China Consulates.. it seems many people have problems (with not supporting enough evidence?) and getting RFEs.. I just want to give enough so that they can't complain (but they always do, haha  ) now they might complain I give them " too much " evidence.. thank you everyone for all your help :D I will take it step-by-step like everyone else and hopefully do a good job..

THanks,

Michael

Hi,

In terms of evidence of having met within the last 2 years (what you need when sending in your 129F package) I went for the more evidence the better approach, that said you need to be selective!!

I was rather intense in my organisation and provided an evidence spreadsheet (listing the evidence provided per visit -we have had 14 so far alongside exact dates and location of the trips) tabbed and highlighted and filed everything in order just so that whoever was reading it would have no question marks in their head and everything was easy to reference -and we were approved in around 3 weeks so being organised sure can help the process along!

1) Per trip: Flight stubs or airline itinerary and passport stamps and hotel/rail tickets etc where necessary (only when these had both our names on obviously!!)

2) Photo for each trip - tried to include different locations and family where possible

3) Phone bills - Alternated mine or Fiance's from every other month we have been together and ltd these to only 4 pages each (you don't want to be sending a box rather than a package!!)

4) Envelopes - sent photocopies of around 8, 4 from me and 4 from Fiance, made sure post dates were legible (or what is the point?) and these spanned the duration of our relationship

5)Engagaement ring receipt and re-sizing receipt

6)Newsletter from our church featuring announcement of our intended wedding date

7) Letter from the mutual friend who introduced us attesting to the validity of our relationship etc

I didn't bother with emails as these don't prove you have met -you could be in the same room emailing each other -and will save these for the embassy. Basically just put yourself in the shoes of the person reviewing your evidence, the more straightforward it is to review the easier you make their life...

Hope this helps!

Lauren

Hi,

Thanks Lauren!! Those are some good ideas, especially the letter from a mutual friend.. I never thought of getting that one.. I see that the emails don't prove anything.. so which do you consider is the most important? I'm guessing for #1 (Passport, Airplane, Hotel).. for #3 Phone bills, most of the calls are initiated from me, is that ok? well, she called using Skype (VOIP - online), it has records because each minute costs $0.02, so I assume it is valid.. can anyone verify if Skype is ok? (Most of our phone records are based on Skype, with over 2,000 records so far).. I have used landline to call her house , but about once a week (since about 1-2 months ago).. maybe about 10-20 total.. so most of my "evidence" lies within Skype.. for Skype, I can print out monthly records (with phone numbers that I called)...

Thanks,

Michael
