I do not understand at all why so many more fiance visas are scheduled than married CR-1's. I know its a slow process and I am really very patient but its very heartbreaking to see so many fiance visa interviews scheduled and not the same amount for married visas. If youve proven a 4 year relationship and its been approved all the way to waiting for just an interview...I dont understand how the case is still in waiting.... :-( I still have no clear answer why...I underwtand the whole wait your turn concept, but that doesnt explain the whole fiance short term relationship versus the married for a few years now and documented relationship...can someone with experience from Ankara please explain this? Seems K-1 slots are plentiful and seem pretty in an out...but I only see 8 cr-1's versus 40 slots taken by k-1's. Dont both visas have the same length in the interview process from others experiences thats what im reading...so why the wait????

Perhaps more K1's are applying?

To add, all fiancee relationships are not short term either. Engaged for twice that long here. My best friend and her fiancee were together 11 years. Comparing K1's to Cr1's is comparing apples to oranges.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Maybe I should have put length of time in the process....from the time you start the visa process to completion rather than length of the relationship, although I dont know all the proof that needs to be provided for a fiance visa versus a marital visa. In any case....waiting on an interview is a slow process for sure.

Ankara did almost no CR1 interview from Jan - May. June was almost full of CR1's. In May there was people on here that completed the NVC in Jan, Feb, and March and we all got June interviews. Its almost like they waited and did them together. I was tracking it through my whole process and contacted my congress as soon as I completed the NVC and read people had been waiting that long. I don't know if it helped or not but we completed the NVC in April was was given a June interview date.

Did you email Ankara and ask about the wait time? They sometimes give vague answers. Like they told me we could get a June or later date.

Also you can contact your congressman's office and have them contact the NVC and Embassy to see what the current wait times are and why the wait it so long for CR1's.

The Embassy and NVC blame each other. The embassy says its up to the NVC to schedule appointments. The NVC says it can only fill the spots the embassy gives them.

I just posted about this topic (not for Ankara but in general) on Saturday. Definitely frustrating to see K1s getting interviews scheduled a lot sooner than CR1s and some (I know because I am friends with them) didn't submit final packets to their embassies till October and got mid-November dates. We got case complete at NVC on September 19th and got a November 26th interview. Just seems strange to me.

August 4 2012: filed i130

December 5 2012: noa1

May 8:2013: noa2

June 3 2013: case received at NVC

August 26 2013: AOS package received at NVC

Sept 19 2013: case complete

October 1 2013: interview date received from NVC

More people do k1 because it's easier to get married in the USA. I did the k1 Bulent and I are together for 4 years. I got my email from Ankara on July 30 finally got an appointment on August 14 for November 7. You are lucky to get one in November other k1 are already in December. I applied on October 28 of 2012 so it took a year.

I guess it just depends on the case and/or the embassy. I dunno. But I am grateful we at least got an interview in November. We've been at this since last August lol.

I did write the NVC and asked why people were getting interview dates for CR-1's with a case date approved after us and received no reply, however that evening my husband and I received an email later in the evening that we have an interview date of DECEMBER 18TH. Its weird that some received a date before us when their cases were completed after us or on the same day but at this point...even though its before Christmas...I am thankful we will have a date and am blessed at that and consider myself lucky. Atleast he should be here for Christmas if all goes well. Best Christmas gift ever on our Year and a half wait being married and not together. I pray for those still in waiting and hope all goes well for all of us in our interviews. Praise God.... ;-) ♥
