Sorry to hear KT about your life...but don't say "life sucks"...I know, for now, it is hard to see clearly and know that this might be the BEST move you have made! Once you'll get back to Canada you'll settle, you'll find your old friends, and some new friends. You'll get a job, get busy, and realize that life is good, and this was the best move you made that you decided to move back home. There's a good reason they have the saying "home, sweet home!". Your home country will always accept you back, and you will always have chances again. I wish you strength, and patience!!!! Hang on! Life is awesome, full of good things....sometimes we (human nature- we're very stubborn) just don't see what is good for us and aggressively follow our head without seeing the wonderful things around! Please don't be too sad! You'll be fine! I know, you will! Now if you go home this winter, go, take big walks, make a huge snow man, look at the crystal like snow on the ground, on the tree branches. Meet up with your family, with old friends while slurping some hot chocolate, or hot coffee if you like, or tea. You have learned things in the US, you became smarter, wiser, and maybe learned some perspectives that later on you'll see will benefit you. Please don't be sad! That makes ME sad...and I don't like to be sad!

Please take care, and let us know how you are doing! We care!

I think the important thing to remember is nothing in life worth having is easy. It takes a lot of work to make a long distance relationship work and even more to make it last after its no longer long distance. You don't have anything familiar and that's very hard. Marriage is less about compromise and more about collaboration, both parties should be happy with the out come, but both require good communication. I suggest marriage counselling (if you haven't yet) and even some private counselling to help you with the huge stuff you've gone through. Find things you like to do for you, because if you can't make yourself happy, you certainly can't make anyone else happy or a relationship be a happy place. The same goes for your spouse.

Canada will always welcome you back with open arms. The only way you learn is to try and not succeed. It's not failure, it's learning. So if the USA isn't going to work for you, then do what makes you happy. Best thoughts for you!

KT, I am sorry for what you're going through.

I also went through a divorce and mine was pretty nasty. Try to find peace in the fact that things can only get better from here. Life might seem rough for now and that it "sucks" but I promise you that things WILL get better. You'll rebuild your life back in Canada, see old friends and make new ones like someone mentioned. Your situation is rough and it might hurt now but this will make you stronger.

Please don't look at yourself as failing. Just as a learning experience... I learned a lot from my divorce and eventually I found someone that really makes me happy (even though we live 5000 miles away from each other while we wait and wait and wait for a "piece of paper" that tells us we can live together under the same roof...)

Lots of hugs!!! We're here for you as your VJ family :)

Thanks for the support, everyone.

I ended up coming home a couple of weeks ago now... I still have to figure out all the paperwork that goes along with it, but I have no doubt that I made the right decision for myself.

Paperwork is paperwork, but making sure you're a happy person is the most important.
