Hey there!

Called the DOS again today-- Packet 3 has been logged, and Packet 4 has been sent out! YAY! I went ahead and scheduled for my interview online, and secured February 6th. I know the appointment letter they're sending in Packet 4 is incredibly important, and the people who handle our mail quite often give our stuff to our neighbours on accident.

Now for my barrage of questions.. whistling.gif

1. Is this the right email to be contacting in regards to sending my Packet 4 via email? montreal-iv-dv@state.gov

2. Should I only be scheduling my medical when I'm happy with how close my interview is? I plan on playing the "refresh game" daily to get something earlier.

Does the Montreal Consulate require the medical done within a certain period of time before the interview? Can it be done months in advance etc?

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts :)

You can do the medical anytime after you get your P4. However keep in mind that the visa will expire 6 months from the medical date, not 6 months from the interview date.

My interview is Feb 6 too :) I have been playing the refresh game as well...would really like something sooner! Did you not give them an email address with your packet 3? My packet 4 came via email. I have heard the medical is good for 1 year, but I have not confirmed that!

11/09/2016 - i-751 sent

11/14/2016 - NOA1

12/08/2016 - Biometrics

06/04/2018 - i-751 approved

medical is only good for 5 months for the visa. The visa, when granted, will be 6 months from the medical date, not the interview date. However the medical will be valid for the AOS for up to a year for K1 applicants meaning you don't need to get it done again in the USA.

Also, regarding your question on the email address. Last time I checked, you had to fill in a form on their web site in order to make any inquiries. If you send anything by email it will just bounce back letting you know they don't accept correspondence that way. Here is what their site still says:

Questions related to immigrant/diversity/fiancé visa applications must be sent through our Public Inquiry Form available on the U.S. Embassy in Canada website.

If you click on the link for Public Inquiry form on their actual site it goes here: http://canada.usembassy.gov/contact/public-inquiry-form.html

The page I grabbed that from is here: http://canada.usembassy.gov/consulates/montreal.html

It's definitely frustrating and confusing because they list their own emails on the site.

ETA: I forgot to mention that when I did use the online submission I heard back from someone within 2 days so much faster than I anticipated.
