Wife might pop on interview day

Our interview is scheduled for about the same time as her due date.

I would like to delay the interview a little, but am afraid I might be put at the back of a 4 month line.

Has anyone tried asking for a delay?

Go anyway! What the worse thing could happen? You're risking of being delayed for another 4 months. The risk of having the baby while she's at the interview appointment is less riskier than you think! You could have the baby and the Visa for them on the VERY same day :)

Good luck :devil::thumbs:

Thats an interesting situation. Every embassy is b inernational law considered to be on the soil of the country it represents. So would a baby born in an American Embassy situated in another country be a US citizen having been born on US soil?

Hi Glen Charles, a baby can be delivered 2 weeks advance and 2 weeks delay from the expected date of delivery. Your wife can have the baby before the interview or better else after the interview. It rarely happens that a baby is born exactly the day he is expected to come, so i guess you don't have to worry about her giving birth during the interview. Oh by the way, where does your wife lives? It might be uncomfortable for her to travel to the embassy with a big tummy and to think that she is almost due?

Hi,

Congratulations for you new Baby.

I think that is better if you don't re-schedule the apointment since they may take too much time to give you a new interview.

If I were in your situation I would be more worried about having the baby before the interview and not beeing able to attend because of your wife beeing still in hospital, or unavailable to go there wait in lines, wait hours sitting in a waiting room and all that but if that happens is easier to explain your wife's absence bringing a NEW birth Certificate. They may have to re-schedule but at least you have a chance if it does not hapen.

Good luck for your interiew !

charles and aurora,

hello and congratulations. i know your so nervous but what an exciting time for both of you. relyn and i have talked many many times about having a baby but we both agreed to wait until she gets to the u.s.a. the biggest reason is mostly me. i want to be with her the minute we find out were going to have a baby. i want to be there to see the baby grow inside her and go to the appointments. so many things i would miss with her pregnancy. it was actually something we discussed before i even was able to touch her. nevertheless part of me is very envious. your both well on your way to the journey of the rest of your life together. i know you will let us know all the details. god bless you both........pat & relyn

Things are going well. Looks like jan 9 is the due date. The doctor is going to give her something right before the interview date that is supposed to delay labor by a few days. Never heard of that before, but there you are.
