Interview Jitters

Maybe I'm over thinking things but I keep having a feeling they're going to deny us at the interview either because of my domicile(in Canada on study permit - legally I have domicile in the US at my parents home) or because I was not able to work legally the past year+ so my father has to joint-sponsor(he's on UPRR-disability for workers-comp at around 64k+/year but is going to put in for retirment next month...I don't have pay stubs for him because disablity doesn't provide them). I'm worried we'll be denied because of me. It's bad enough we were stuck at NVC because they wouldn't tell us what was wrong and then it ended up being one little phrase translated incorrectly by the Quebec police people...

Has anyone else had problems with their interview while abroad on a temp-permit and/or with joint-sponsor?

Also, do I need a new paper from my father's work stating he is an employee there? The one we have is from July and he had to sit in their office and be a pain in their butt for almost 3 days just to get it. I doubt I'd be able to get it by the interview since it takes almost 20 days to recieve anything from him.

i don't think you'll need a new employment letter

Read the domicile thread and provide as much proof as you can.

Relax :D (ps domicile or sponsorship isn't a denial, it's a 221g to provide more info.)

Well that's good! I've gotten together all the items I can think of after reviewing the thread a couple times, to prove my domicile and ablity to support him. If it's not good enough - heck I don't know what else would be other than crossing the border... which wouldn't be pretty trying to get back in to Canada to get my husband and stuff. The border guys don't seem to like me much!

If we do get a 221g, do you know the normal response time it would take for them to review it?

I'm hopping to celebrate our anniversary in the US, December 3rd~ smile.png

221g, I have no idea, a month or two maybe depending on what's needed and how fast you can get it to them. Honestly the interview is pretty easy if you've done all the prep work for it.

Good luck with your interview and remember to breathe ;-)

Thank you! I already forget to breathe just thinking about it haha.

Thank you! I hope it's easy...We waited so long.

Honestly, when my husband was in the US with me(before we were married), I called the DOS and some other places to find out how to be able to have him stay in the US with me. They never mentioned the K1 at all. If I'd known about the K1, we would have done that route - it would have been so much easier for us. Instead I spent almost a year waiting to get a permit for Canada and we got married with the intent to just file a Canadian PR for me before my study permit was up in 2018. But it just isn't working for us up here. It seems like everything has been against us from the start, from the apartments to his job(s) and our university ***ing us over. I regrett that we moved here but in other ways, we at least learned from experience that Canada isn't right for us in the long-term and we'll have some interesting stories to tell by the end of our stay!

We have to go back to Shoppers today to get the passport photos corrected because they gave us photos with glare and writing on the back(no room to write the required stuff). The Medical is tomorrow, haha he's not looking forward to it.
