Hello everyone! I want to thank you all for the support in helping me get through our wait for the NOA2. Now, as I understand it, have to wait two weeks to call NVC and get the case number to start checking status online. Then, wait for Packet 3. Setup visa interview and provide I-134, medical and Police Report in New Delhi at the US Consulate.

We will need an outside sponsor. Can a friend do that?

Also, what are the other forms that will be in the Packet 3 that we should start preparing right now?

We requested the Police Clearance in India today.

I want to thank you all for your help and advice in advance.

Congrats on your petition approval :) Just wanted to let you know that the Indian consulates do not mail out Packets 3 and 4. They tell you to go on to the consulate site and download the packets. Both in our case and those I've spoken with, the appointment letter came via email and we were instructed to not send anything in ahead of time but to take all the documents and forms the day of the interview. After you get your nvc case number you will log into USTravelDocs.com and create an account. We used the help chat feature on this site to be very helpful (they were the ones that explained that India no longer sends the packets and to take everything to the interview the day of). The USC will want to get everything together for the I134 (affidavit of support and supporting docs) and get those in the mail. And I am not sure where you got your police clearance but I know someone else that went through the police dept. and it was not accepted at the consulate. The police report has to go through the Passport Office. Best of luck!! :D

congrats! the first part is done!

if you dont receive anything wiithin a couple weeks from nvc, id call them just to check. it took 7 weeks for us to get the letter that said it was moving on to the embassy. they wont do anything until 8 weeks has passed, so hopefully they aren't as behind as they were a month ago. the number is (603) 334-0700 between 7-12am eastern time.

once you get your new case number, you can check the status here https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?

they just changed the visa paperwork requirements, making it so much simpler. the new packet instructions are here http://photos.state.gov/libraries/india/521916/K1%20packet/K1%20pkt%204%20Oct%2013.pdf

you will need to fill out ds-160 online and then bring it with you to the appointment.

get everything you need for your i134 asap and mail it or email it to your fiance. there are various instructions online, i just sent one of everything. the i134 instructions are here http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134instr.pdf

make sure you are getting a pcc from a regional passport office, not a police office. this has caused many people problems in getting their visas right away. this website is here http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink

register, upload application, pay and then you can walk in to the office when you are ready.

medical has to be done at least a week before your interview, so be prepared to get that done once you find out.

i hope this all helps! they sure dont make it very easy to understand everything, looking at loads of different websites to get all the information you need. good luck on getting an interview quickly!

My fiance does not have a permanent job and works for a temp agency @ 10.50/hr. She has been working since January of this year. She was in India from 2008 until last year September. Any suggestions on the I-134 or should we try to get a co-sponsor.

And thanks for the helpful information provided by you guys I am reading up on the recommendations above.
