Whats the CR-1 process after NVC when file arrrives in London ?

Ive read the guides but there no mention of the exact process.

1. Is it the NVC that schedules and tells me my interview appointment date or the London embassy ?

2. From what i can gather my medical has to be done before my interview (or is that only K1 visas ?), do i just call up anytime and book the medical once i know London has my file from the NVC ?

3. Do i need anything apart from my NVC case number to book the medical ?

Please remember the above is CR-1 NOT K-1 appreciate any help on the last steps in the process

Thanks for any help

1. NVC gives you a date after you are "case complete".

2. Yes, they need to see your medical results at the time of the interview. For a K1, an interview won't even be assigned until the embassy has the results. Not true for CR1. You may call for an appointment after you know the interview date.

3. They will ask for your LND case number when you call for an appointment. You need to bring your police certificate (or photocopy if original went to NVC) to the exam. Sort youR shots before going and get a written summary from your GP if you have or previously had any medical issues ...example, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, depression, cancer, etc. Knightsbridge will want further info on serious medical conditions, so taking it in the first time will save you waiting after the appointment before they will release your results to the embassy.

Excellent, thanks ever so much!

I have my Police cert all ready, also shots done earlier in the year and have paperwork for them.

Is the interview date usually e mailed from NVC ?

Reason im asking is im going to the US on the 1st Nov, and not due back untill the 9th Jan, however if i get interview date sometime between i'll come back early over to the UK for it and the medical! just didn't want a piece of paper lying behind the door here in the UK with my interview date and them not e mailing me the date too.

.

I really don't know. I don't keep up with CR1 details. Ask in the CR1 forum because it would be the same for all. A phone call to DOS in the US would tell you if an interview had been scheduled so you could find out before actually getting home to go through the mail.

Also, am i able to book and get the medical before my file is in London ?

Knightsbridge does not know if your file is in London, so probably would let you with an LND number. They may ask CR1 applicants if you have an interview date yet because the intent is for London to have your file before some random medical report shows up that they don't know why it is there. Doing things out of order isn't always a good idea, but I think you are maybe trying to get it in before your trip. You can call and see what happens. Better plan is wait until NVC notifies you that you are "case complete". There will still be a delay after that before they hand out an interview. Then there will be at least a month's lead time given between the notification assigning the date and the interview.

My interview date was emailed to me a few days after I got 'case complete' at NVC.

I booked my medical as soon as I got my LND number and had it a couple of weeks later. Bear in mind however that your visa when issued will be valid for 6 months from the date of the medical so being in too much of a hurry to have it done is not necessarily a good idea.

I recommend joining the 'NVC filers' thread for the appropriate month - probably October.

It was. In fact that was good news for me because the chest x-ray showed some sort of shadowing and I had to have an MRI scan. In the end there was nothing but the results took ages and I got them just a couple of days before my interview so it was a stressful few weeks.

Thanks for the info, i was just a touch worried about the medical results being sent to the Embassy before they had my file at the enbassy and them not knowing anything about it!
