Hello VJ members,

I am 32 & in the middle of ROC from 2 years to 10 year green card. Just had my biometric done For my ROC yesterday. I'm working and also a student. I would like to know if I can join the national guard and if this will have any negative effect in my ROC and becoming a citizen next year .

Would like to know if this is a Do or Don't since I'm not a citizen yet. Any one knows the Pros & Cons of joining the Guard? Please your advice are welcome and appreciated. Need to know this things before making this life changing enlistment.

Thank you all.

Same here. I'm a June ROC applicant but I am also waiting on my Security Clearance for a goverment department. The recruiter said it's ok for me to apply for Security Clearance but I think they are dragging my case out since I haven't been approved for my ROC yet. You will have to ask your recruiter because it depends of what type of clearance they need. Normal clearance takes within 3 months and mine has been 2 months. My attorney said these cases don't affect each other.

In general, yes, you can join the guard.

However, talk to a recuiter. First.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I know it's old topic, just wanted to post some information related with topic without creating new topic. Green card is OK when joining Army National Guard. Though after enlisting in NG you will have to wait for 6 months before they can send you to basic training (it used to be 3 months). Just wanted to share.
