I call ustraveldocs, hit the keys to schedule on the AVR, then I get a human. If you listen, one key is for english, the other for chinese. I always got an English Speaker when a human picked up. There is a rash of numbers for China, I always called the Guangzhou office. There's one number for the USA. China offices open during China time, USA Office open during USA time. I called Guangzhou my sunday evenings, taking advantage of the time zone splits.

can't reach the consulate via telephone, I'll suggest you have the IV Unit and GGI/Stanley (ustraveldocs) confused.

DoS Hotline is the Department of State Visa Status Hotline - they are useful and are open during the day in the USA. They know status and can tell you what the status is, and 'as of' what date.

over at ceac.state.gov - you can check it online, it is updated by IV Staff in real time - my favorite orgasmatron moment was at 22:49 local time when it shifted to ISSUED after being at AP for all that time.

My wife's visa arrived at the Citic Bank in Nanning today, so 13 days from the interview. For what it's worth, the CEAC site is stuck at "Printed", while UStravelDocs shows ready for pickup. USTravel

cool ! figure a week to get the visa packet generated and compiled and the visa packet moved around inside the IV Unit to the mailroom.

Once it's in the mailroom, it'll go out via courier, same day or next day.

So kind of frustrating over the past few days. I had called the travel docs and after inquiring they sent me an email saying that visa and passport had been delivered to the CITIC bank (yippee, right????). My wife has called the bank and they have nothing. So here is where we are at now:

- CEAC still only shows issued

- US Travel docs passport tracking shows; Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery

- Tracking the passport via email shows; origination scan

I know I am being a bit overzealous in trying to follow up on this, but why can't things be more consistent? Is it too much to ask to have them all read the same thing, and have it in plain english so we actually understand what they are talking about????? I wonder if they teach a class on vagueness and inconsistency to everyone before they start working. I was talking to a coworker of mine the other week who had immigrated here an few years back, his idea was to have everyone reapply for their citizenship at least once in their life. Let's see what everyone says about reform at that point, right????

rjd - ya, that's why I started this topic, as there's black holes of misinformation coming out of GUZ IV, ustraveldocs . My hope was to seek patterns that were useful for tracking the visa packet and passport after the visa interview.

as to being overzealous - uhm, for this 'thing', IMO, there's no such thing. I noticed the disconnects early, before my wife's interview, from reading other folks missives about what happened to them.

rjd2013 or Darnell or anyone.. haha.. how do you track the passport through email? I saw a few postings back that Darnell posted you can track on EMS.. Do you get an email from them once the visa has been issued or sent out? As far as rjd2013's visa, it looks like it just been sent out (origination scan).. that looks like it hasn't been delivered yet (just sent out).. haha, I should know since I order packages all the time.. Thanks guys..

This is what i found on another website...

"The current status of your passport is In Transit To Post."

VFS/USTraveldocs is yet to deliver your passport to the Consulate. It is in between the USTraveldocs location and Consulate.

"The current status of your passport is Delivered To Post."

VFS/USTraveldocs has delivered your passport to the Consulate.

"The current status of your passport is Origination Scan."

US Consulate has filled in your Courier slip but is awaiting Courier Company to pick it / Courier Company is in the process of issuing an AWB/Reference code.

"The current status of your passport is In Transit From Post."

The passport with or without the visa is now being transported by courier to the pick up location that you specified at the time of creating the appointment. Please check the location of pickup on your US Consulate appointment invitation letter.

"The current status of your passport is Ready For Pickup."

It has arrived at the Pickup location. For some it may be the Facilitation Center.

"The current status of your passport is Picked Up."

Lets hope that it was you that picked it up.

Gogo, in order to track via email...send email to: passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com, in the subject line and/or the message put in the passport number. You cannot have anything else but the passport number or you will not get any result. I believe that I read that it did not work for everyone so, good luck.

Speaking their websites working I called them today to get an explanation of the four conflicting pieces of information they have for us, and the guy on the phone said not to bother with any of the information you get online because they cannot ensure that it correct. I had to laugh.
