Photo ID Needed for delivery of passport/visa package

Did I imagine it or did I read somewhere that you need a photo ID to sign for the passport/visa when it gets delivered to my work address ?

That could be a challenge as the only photo ID I have is my passport :-)

It used to say somewhere that a credit card or utility bill from you (or something of that nature). But since they turned things over so much this summer, I'm not sure if they say differently now. Historically and recently, they have rarely actually asked for ID despite what it says. But we always want to prepare. So what do you have with your name on it?

I figure I have my old passport, though it has been voided now....and i have a load of different utility bills with my name on it. I also have some prescription medication to show them with my name on it. Thats all i can think of

My Dad took delivery for me, they asked for nothing other than signature.

Not that i am suggesting you proceed on that assumption but I reckon anything with your name and address on it.

Have your home delivery receipt handy, that ought to do the trick.

My fiance said they barely asked him for anything. They just said "Emma __________?" and asked his name, didn't ask for any ID at all. I'd given him all my stuff as evidence and photo ID and they didn't ask for any of it. He didn't even have to sign anything.

Sounds like I'll be covered - the suggestion of an old passport will cover it.

Having only just recently been at the Embassy I appear to have quite a collection of documents with my name on it :-) Come to think of it I have my police record !

Hahah...this just reminded me ( a little off topic)

My fiance just signed a lease for an apartment and the landlady said they may need to do a small background check on me before they can allow me to be a partner lease on the flat. I dont think she realises I have just been through the K1 visa process with the American Government and am more than accustomed to a "small background check"!

I picked mine up from the DX Depot in North London and had to show my Drivers License.

No mention of any ID but will take my old passport in.

In the end - naff all. Just the usual scrawled signature on the usual courier handheld terminal that looks nothing like my usual signature.

Oh and this time it really is a packet. Bigger than A4 and make sure you retrieve your passport with the K1 visa in from the bottom of the outer envelope (plastic courier bag)
