Hi fellow members,

Hope y'all are good. I am about to file my I-751 for ROC, and I am worried that the evidence or supporting docs I am turning in may or may not be enough. I'll give you all the timeline of my case so that you can give your valuable advice:

May-August 2008 - Came to USA on J1 visa for summer project. Left USA in august 2008

August 2009 - Came to USA on F1 (student) visa valid upto 2014

May 2010: Met my wife (USC) and we started living together (joint lease) from August 2010.

May 2011: Married

September 2011: Filed I-485 and received my conditional green card in December 2011.

So, now I am filing for ROC as I mentioned above and I have arranged my packet and below are the supporting docs I have:

I-751 form and fees

Copy of both of our DLs (show same address, and hers shows changed name as well)

Copy of my GC (front and back)

Copy of my health insurance card (from both years 2012 and 2013) issued by Aetna showing both of our names on the card

Copy of records printed out from my health insurance account showing both our names as claimants during numerous doc/hospital visits (2013 hasn't been a great year for us - healthwise :P)

Copy of our last 2 years Tax transcripts (married filing jointly)

A signed letter from our bank stating when she was added to my account and that she has a debit card and stuff

Copy of bank statements showing both our names (copies span last 2 years)

Copy of a loan application (we both signed it) back in December 2011

Letter from our car insurance agency confirming joint insurance (detailed)

Copy of my employment records showing her as the beneficiary

Copy of our 3 leases (one when we were living together, one from 2012 and current lease) showing both our names

Copy of utility bills (gas, electric, cable and phone) from last two years. None is joint bill but two are under her name and two under mine but they all show same addresses

Couple of recent medical and dental bills showing me as patient and my wife as emergency contact

4 signed affidavits from family and friends

10 pictures of us from random events

Few greeting cards sent to us by friends on our birthdays/anniversaries and some envelopes stating our address

That's it. Any advice? or any other piece of evidence I should be collecting?

Thanks in advance!

I think you're golden. You have evidence spanning many years and a lot of financial evidence.

Thanks Jenny.

The main thing I lack (and concerned about) is I don't have any life insurance and I opted out of my company's 401K. So don't have those documents showing her as beneficiary. And we also didn't take any major trips in last two years owing to hectic schedule.

Your evidence looks fine. As long as it spans the entire period of your marriage you're fine. Very few people have absolutely everything and USCIS knows and expects that. As long as you have enough good evidence from the whole time you've been married, and it seems like you do, your ROC should go without problems.

We don't have any life insurance either, and my husband doesn't get 401K benefits with his employer. We also lived with my mother in law for over a year, so at the time of filing we were only able to present 3 months' worth of a joint lease and joint utilities. We had other strong evidence though (bank statements, credit cards, jointly owned car + car insurance, joint health insurance, business registration in both names etc.) so my ROC went like a breeze and I was approved within 3.5 months. By the sounds of it, you have good evidence, so you should have no problem. So no need to worry. Best of luck!

You have pretty good evidence to show a bonafide marriage. Don't worry you won't have any issues at all. Even we didn't have life insurance and 401K when we applied for my husband's ROC and we just recently got approved without any RFE.

If you have recently moved then be sure to update your address online by filling out AR-11 form. Good luck :-)

Your evidence is great. I do see any problems with what you have at all :)

This looks solid :)

ROC Journey:

4/24/13 - Submitted I-751 application

4/26/13 - I-751 officially filed

6/11/13 - Biometrics done

8/14/13 - Rec'd RFE

9/21/13 - Submitted RFE response

9/23/13 - RFE response rec'd at VSC

(about 2 months later)

11/21/13 - Service request via Tier 1 submitted

12/11/13 - Response to service request rec'd - vague info about processing times

12/12/13 - Service request via Tier 2 submitted

12/10/13 - APPROVED!!! (letter rec'd 12/14/13)

12/16/13 - 2nd Service request response rec'd

12/17/13 - Card production email/text rec'd (online case updated)!

12/24/13 - Notification rec'd via email regarding card mailed on 12/23/13 (online case updated as well)

12/26/13 - 10-yr card rec'd!

One thing I have learned on this journey:

There is no such thing as an "overkill" evidence package. Submit anything and everything you can. Who knows what will prevent you from getting an RFE.
