Got NOA2 nearly 2 months ago.. Haven't heard anything since?

Hey everyone.. Got NOA2 in the second week of August.. So its been about 50 days.

In the mean time I have gotten my police check so that's ready.

I heard the next step is that we would get an email telling us to send information to the consulate here in Australia (Birth cirtificate, medical, police check etc).

Is 50 days since NOA2 normal waiting time? I'm a little concerned cos I heard you have to be approved within 4 moths of Noa2. I'm halfway there and haven't heard from them yet! Am I still just waiting for an email or will they send the beneficiary (me) a package to my place in the mail?

Have you called DoS yet? They can tell you if they have received your case from USCIS, and if they have, they'll be able to say wether they have it, or if it has been forwarded to the embassy in Australia. They can give you your new case number and you can use that to get the medical done while waiting from a letter from your embassy.

Call DoS and tell them you'd like to know if they've received your approved petition.

Are they actually waiting for us to call/do something before the next step, or is the process still moving and we're just waiting to receive the letter from the embassy?

Either one can call, but of course it's cheaper to call from the US. The process is still moving, but if you can get your case number, it helps speed up the case because you can get things done, like the medical, before you get your letter from the embassy.

It took USCIS over 7 weeks to ship our file. Once they had we were able to get the case number a week later (I have my medical on Tuesday, though the file is still with the NVC apparently)

From experience the people on the helpline at the DoS are considerably more helpful and pleasant than the NVC, and you get through a lot quicker.

Oh and when you call, you can avoid listening to an interminable recorded message by immediately pressing 1, then 0

Yes, you'll get one specific to Germany.

For instance, my case number was WAC, now it is LND20137060XX

Thanks. So I guess there is no point in getting my medical done with the WAC one. Already set up my appointnent based on the average processing times plus a buffer. However. With the looming government shutdown this date might get pushed back by weeks.

Just an FYI. You may want to call USCIS and make sure you talk with a Tier 2 officer. With us our case was sent to the NRC in error (this does happen - it their long term records storage center). The case sat there for 7 weeks before I could finally get someone to locate it and take action. If someone isn't proactive about finding it. it could sit there forever. I made dozens and dozens of calls. NVC didn't have it, USCIS said it was shipped (it was, just to the wrong place). Ask the Tier 2 where your case was shipped. This may not be your situation at all, but it is a possibility. Best wishes for quick processing!
