INFO about Division 8 at Overland Park

Hi All,

I just got off the phone with a tier 2 rep and he confirmed that although my NOA1 was addressed from Overland Park, my petition is at the Missouri (NBC) processing centre. Which makes me believe that Overland park is the recieving address/ mailing distribution centre not necessarily a different processing centre.

He also confirmed that the average standalone i-130 approval as of today from NBC is 8-10 months from submission to approval.

I asked why the averages have gotten so much longer from the national goal of 5.1 months and he said that previously only the beneficiary underwent a background check. Due to some loop holes and some backlash they have started back checks on the petitioners as well.

I don't understand how it even would matter. The petitioner's background doesn't have any bearing on the background of the beneficiary. It's entirely not relevant, unless they've been convicted of immigration fraud previously, and that should be very easy to ascertain, even with the system they had previously.

I'm just the messenger on this one... and relaying what I have been told for each member of VJ to do what they will with the information.

I am definitely in the boat that it shouldnt create much more in the process, but it is apparent that USCIS is not well adjusted.

Food for thought- what is maybe a couple minutes or something simple to each of our individual petitions, on a large scale is not so simple. Try magnifiying that by the thousands of petitions that are pending. Like it or not it adds time. Anytime process is amended it effects output.

Just sayin...

If they're going to double their workload, then they need to double their workforce. They just increased the fees on us, and we're getting even less service for it. I don't care what their reasoning is, we pay for a service, and we are supposed to be adjudicated in a reasonable amount of time. 2 years is not reasonable.

I'm not yelling or mad at you. I just think that whomever told you that is full of you-know-what.

Approved!

NOA2 email

We woke up with the "approved, post-action activity" email this morning.

Again for clarity we are filing from abroad, both of us from France.

We tried to expedite last week (bad parent situation, but not us personally). They said it was not reason for expedite but a tier 2 said just turn the proof in so they could see what exactly are the details. We got the confirmation that they recieved the documents but never heard back. We sent the documents to Lees Summit, but our NOA1 was addressed Overland Park.

Living in France since 04/04/2013

I think this is relevant to us, our NOA1 says in the bottom left hand corner: "USCIS Office....Overland Park, KS". Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I'm subscribing to this thread. NOA1 date is Oct. 18, 2013.
