Got my GC Today so now what is next step?

I got my green card in the mail today. It is only valid for two years.

From what I have read I cannot apply for citizenship for 3 years? Is that 3 years from date of green card or 3 years from date of entry to USA??

If it is from the green card, how do I renew the green card and when can I do it?

What is the next step from here??

cause of your green card is base in a less than 2 years marriage, you get a 2 years gc. You can apply for citizenship in 3 years from the date of your green card. That means sep 2016, but you can start sending your application 90 days before this date (june 2016 is the soonest). In the mid time you are pretty much done with immigration for 2 years. 90 days before your gc expire (june 2015) you should apply for ROC (remove of conditions) so you can get a 10 years green card. Once you get it you can stay as a resident or apply for citizenship a year later. Now njoy your vacations

Something else to bear in mind is that you do not have to wait for USCIS to adjudicate your RoC application before filing for citizenship. Often, people will file for citizenship at the designated time and this will force USCIS to adjudicate the I-751 before they can get to the N-400.

One important thing to remember:

You and your husband need co-mingling finances (bank account, credit cards, car insured, jointly taxes, bill, lease or mortgage, etc.)
Keep all that papers because you'll need to attach when you ROC on your GC.
Read the guidance to ROC to know all that you'll need.
