It is about part 2, Eligibility.

Which one should I choose if I fit in both item A and B?

A. I have been a lawful permanent resident of the United Sates for at least five years.

B. I have been a lawful permanent resident of the United States for at least three years, and I have been married to and living with the same US citizen for the last three years, and my spouse has been a US citizen for the last three years.

My husband said I should choose B, I am not very sure about it. Does it matter ?

Thank you very much!

How long have you been a legal permanent resident in the US?

There are two ways you can qualify for citizenship: either by residing in the US as a LPR for 5 years -or- if you are married to and living with a US citizen you can apply after 3 years.

If you fit both - i.e. married to and living with a US citizen for over 5 years - then check 'A', so that you can apply on your own recognizance.

It depends on which you want to file as. A requires less documents than B.

I have been permanent resident and married with a same person for more then 8 years. I want to apply for citizenship based on 5 years but my spouse is married once before. Do I need to fill out question 8 part G question1 through 5?. Also, for documentation, do I have to send my spouse divorced certificate?

My understanding is that you should fill out the questions about your spouse's marital history, and if you apply for citizenship based on 5 years then you don't have to send your spouse's divorce document.

Best Regards!

Thank you so much yyzsong. You make my life easier. I have one more question. I studied in a community college which has 3 different branches or campuses in three different locations. I took classes in all three campuses. On N400 form can I write only one address or three different address? The college name is waketech community college and the campuses names are north campus, health science campus etc. And, I also took one online class this year for three months. I do not know their address but I know the website name. what should I do whit that?

thank you.

I think you're fine to give 1 name and address for the college and the overall duration...they aren't looking for that much detail - campuses don't count as different colleges entirely
