Crossed out personal check, is it okay?

Hello everyone. First, I want to say thank to my fellow VJs here who replied my last post about the best visa option for me and my fiancee's situation. We chose K1 and we sent our I-129f packet today through FedEx. We'll just wait the USCIS approval. If we get denied, we just get married then.

I have another question though. Is it okay to send a 'crossed out' personal check? My fiancee has old bank checks. He got his name, the ex-wife and old address on it. Ex-wife is not an account holder since 2008. He didnt get new one because its expensive plus he's far away from home. He's here with me in the Philippines. So what he did, he just crossed them out using a black pen. Do you think USCIS will accept it?

Thank you in advance for your response! smile.png

He still has his name on it. He just lined out the ex-wife's name and the old address.

You misunderstood what I said so I'll rephrase. Did he write the first letter of his first name and the first letter of his last name next to the line he wrote through the ex's name on the check. If so, then it the fact that the line out is through the ex's name should not be an issue.

If you are talking in the upper left of the check, I don't see that as an issue.

Just curious. Why did you choose K-1 over CR-1 being your fiance is there living in the Phils already, you could have gotten married and done a DCF (Direct Consulate Filing) which is a ton faster than the K-1 process?

Yes, its in the upper left part of the check. My fiancee thinks that its not an issue also. Its me who's doubting about it.

We didn't know about DCF before. We only knew about fiancee and spousal visa. We chose k1 because we heard cr1 takes longer.

He's here 10 months already on a tourist visa.
