hey everybody,

My fiancee and I are confused by something in china- The Guangzhou consulate is out of interview dates and seem to have no idea when they will get new ones.

We are filing for a K1 visa and only just got the go-ahead to secure an interview appointment yesterday.

So i was wondering:

1. are they out of dates for this month, or for the rest of the year?

2. if they will post new dates for october, when generally are they posted? the last week of the month? after the 15th?

thanks for reading! and good luck to all!

Sorry to hear this - I was hoping that the Consulate would quickly catch up on their backlog once the move was complete.

Just keep trying - others may have some helpful information on when the best times are to look.

But yes, I doubt that they have released any October appointments yet. They may be releasing an entire month's worth of dates at a time, or they may still be releasing shorter blocks throughout the month (like they did during the move).

You need to check from 8am to 1pm China time on a Monday. They released the entire month of August in June on a Monday.

I received the P4 email at 11:27PM last Wednesday evening (9/4) Chicago time. At that time, on CGI Stanley, there were at least 15 appointments each day available for October 8, 9, and 10. There were other dates available later during October, but I did not search them, I wanted appointment as early as I could get. If there are none available now, I must conclude they were all taken.

Your Fiancee needs to get in contact with a qq group that will help eachother in the group get a time slot together. Search on here and there's some posts that list qq group #'s. It obviously is still a complete lottery system if you get lucky and see slots available when you check the website.

The problem is CGI Stanley. Until they design their website to hide appointments for those without a P4 people with P4's will continue to have this problem. I have written to them about this flaw and plan on writing the IG once all is complete (may need to add more to the report by then).

Note that some people who scheduled interviews prior to receiving a P4 have had their interviews either canceled or have received calls from the embassy asking them why they scheduled an interview prior to receiving the P4 (thus delaying their P4 being sent out). Others have had success scheduling before receiving the P4. Out of courtesy for others, it is probably best to wait until after receiving the P4 Email to schedule the interview until CGI gets their act together (or loses the contract, whichever comes first).

We are CR-1, so it may be different from K-1, but we could not get into the appointment system until Monday this week (53 days after P3) which was the same day we received the P4 email. So the system did work correctly. When we went to the interview availability screen, there were a couple of hundred slots open over three weeks in October. I waited until Tuesday to book one and there were still plenty open. So we saw something completely different than the OP saw on Tuesday.

I just logged in to the CGI website and the main page said "First available interview time is October 8, 2013." I didn't check further because you have to cancel your existing appointment to see the availability calendar.
