obtaining a police record from the USA as a foreign national

hello my fellow vj community,

as we are waiting to get our I129F approved, i'm already working on my checklist for the next step(s).

one box asks for police records of the countries i have resided in for more than a year.

in my case, that applies both to the US as well as Germany.

Getting my police record from Germany is pretty pain-free and easy as I have done so before.

My question is: "How do I obtain a police record from the US?"

I lived in PA for a year (on a F1 Visa) and in NC for a year (on a B Visa). Will I need state records from both states or is a FBI police record sufficient for both stays (summer of 2009-summer of 2011). if i only need a fbi police record how would i go about getting this?

You are not required to obtain a police certificate from US. They will run their own checks prior to the interview.
