I'm so upset I apparently can't even spell Paperwork in the Subject Line -- I apologize :)

Ok - How frustrated am I right now !!! My husband, though I love him to death just about sent me over the edge last week !!

We are mailing off our final set of papers to the NVC for the I130. Which include all the originals of the Birth Certificate, Police Report, Marriage Certificate... Does he sent it Certified or Registered ??? NOOOOOO ... He send it with a Track & Confirm with the US Postal Service. OK... so I'm Canadian & I don't really know how the US Postal Service works, but I imagine it's like Canada Post, don't even get me started on that !!!!

So our little Track & Confirm receipt is now telling online that they were unable to deliver our package "as addressed" of course our package was in the NVC envelope that was provided..... So now we have filed a claim with the US Postal Service to "try" and locate our package... For those USC out there... Is there even a possibility of them finding the envelope? Or should I cut my losses and reorder another set of original documents? Of course that in itself is going to take 4-6 weeks or longer because of the holidays. I am just so beyond frustrated ..... WHAT WAS HE THINKING ??? Oh ya.... My husband also didn't write his return address on the NVC envelope, which I assume is the reason they wouldn't deliver in the first place, but now the Postal Service doesn't even know where to return the envelope..... I'm hoping beyond hope they can find it based on that little Track & Confirm Number... Am I dreaming ???

Anyone out there ever have something not delievered with the US Postal Service ? And if so, did you ever get your item back?

When was all this sent? If it's only been a few days, then often the USPS will attempt to re-deliver.

I just sent all my AOS/EAD docs through USPS, but I sent it certified. However, I have a tracking number that I use in the Track and Confirm online.

Really, if you have that number, you should be able to retrieve your package. They will know where it is based on that number, because it gets entered every time it goes anywhere.

Try not to freak out too much...I know it's easier said than done, however, when it comes to this whole process. All our nerves are shot!!!

Oh gosh, I'm sorry this is happening. I've usually had good luck with USPS delivering stuff the first time, although once they lost something and then somehow wanted proof that it was lost before paying the insurance.

Did you get duplicates of everything when you got the originals? If you did it might make sense to just send it out straight away again.

I'm sorry :(

Package was originally sent on November 20th. It's now December 7th and we haven't heard anything yet.

I have photocopies of all the documents, just not the originals. So close -- yet so far :)

I think it is a bit late to say, I hope you did not say you sent the originals, send copies of everything with the exception if the I-130, I-129F, I-864, G-325A.. DOS, USCIS forms, all evidence should be copies, only send originals when specifically requested. You bring original evidence documents to the interview.

Hopefully it is just taking its time in their mail room.

I followed the instructions on the DS230 that I filled out for hte I130, it specifically said to return "orginals" with the application. I guess I should order another copy then to make sure I'm covered.

Thanks riblet -- had me worried... it's funny how we I keep questioning myself on this stuff :)

So will I need to present originals again at the interview ?

I've just started ordering all the documents this week, and I'm ordering two of each - and was actually even thinking about ordering three. I'm so paranoid. I'm pretty sure that NVC is supposed to send the originals to the Consulate, so you're supposed to be okay at the interview, but I think the DOS website itself recommends getting duplicates in case something gets lost. I know that NVC mails a package to the Consulate when the case is complete, and my understanding was that that was all your documents.

I've definitely learned the hard way during this process that you can never have too many copies...whether they be certified or photocopied. Even thought the USCIS, NVC, Embassy, Consulate, etc. all have the same copy of each document, they always seem to want more. It's so redundant.

I'll never understand.

I'm really sorry about your lost package, Amerceau. I can imagine your frustration.
