I ended up going. Flying twice in 5 days with a toddler was not my idea of a good time, but we did get the visa, so that was good. I'll post more about our interview later, but basically, the woman only talked to me and not to my boyfriend at all! I think she just didn't want to have to talk in Spanish...

Yes... the Lima consulate will not issue the visa until they have talked to the USC. At times they will allow a phone interview (have heard this on occassion), but usually they issue a 221g and won't issue the visa until the USC appears and they can interview the USC as well.

Really? Where did you get this from?

My Fiance went alone for K1 visa interview on Sept 26 and receive it without problem. No one spoke with me.

I think USC attending the interview may rather hurt then help. Why giving them a chance interviewing you as well?

If your fiance can get tourist visa don't bother with K1.

If the relationship is genuine, there shouldn't be a problem with the USC answering some questions as well. It has been recorded here on VJ by several members that it is more effective if the USC is there for the interview. Either way, I'm looking forward to going back to Lima!!!

have fun and just don't get sick like I did. short story is I ended up in the ER immediately off of the airplane when I landed in the states. Can't wait to go back again anyway :)

Everything will be good. Don't worry about our delay with the visa, I think we are having the difficulty so yours will go easy ;)

just a note to those who don't attend, of the people we saw getting approved, everybody had the USC there. Those that didn't were not approved. Not sure why, just know they didn't get the visa of those we saw (out of 6 couples the three of us w/ the USC were approved, everyone else got their passport back w/ the yellow paper).

Interesting....

I've read many posts on VJ stating that it is indeed beneficial (though not mandatory) to have the USC present at the interview. And of course, some of our members have posted approvals without the USC present, so it's possible!

I'm just not willing to take any chances.....

something I should have put earlier but I forgot.

One BIG HUGE GINORMOUS thing I noticed about those of us who had the USC present was that we were WAAAY more prepared then everyone else. Take copies of everything great and small that can help your case. Those that were alone had maybe a small set of photos, or maybe a letter from what I was able to see from my seat. VS I had a 2.5" ring binder completely full, Randy had a large packet of evidence and photos, and the other USC had a briefcase full of papers. All of us were very organized too which I think made a difference.

So if you are going alone, I would say TAKE EVERYTHING you can and PREPARE PREPARE ORGANISE and PREPARE

Best of fortune to everyone still waiting for their interview :)

I have a binder that I can barely close and that weighs at least 20 pounds....and I'm not even done with it yet

Once I add everything my husband has been saving, we're going to need a backpack!

But that's good, I suppose

It's funny that you mention that 'cause that's what we brought, A LUGGAGE!!, photo albums, dvds of the weeding, print sof more than 300 e.mails, cards, stuff animals, was so funny 'cause the only thing they asked for : 3 pictures, 1 of the wedding day with both families, our honeymoon, and our engagement party. That's it. It only took us 5 minutes. Don't worry Tracy we all know how are feeling right now, try to relax, I'm 100% sure that you are coming home with Luis. By the way, what is he planning to do in the US?? What kind of job or is he going to school???

Hugs
