I'm playing with the receipt numbers and I'm seeing quite a few ARNs changed today, 3/4. A lot of them on 2/28.

UGH. The lady who called me back sounded like a Tier 1 and even though I kept pressing, she still kept saying that it did not indicate where my file was transferred to yet. And when I still kept playing dumb, she still said that it did not show her where my file was and that it would tell me on my paper notice. ranting33va.gif

No, why? You paid $420 to have your petition processed. Least they can do is tell you where it is!

The lady I spoke to said the same thing, but then put me on hold and "researched" it. She came back and said it was California. Keep calling !!!

My theory on these recent ARN changes:

IO picks up a case, enters it into a system, assigns an ARN and initiates background checks.

I mean, they just received these cases, there's no way any background check would come back over the weekend.

Thoughts?

Someone else mentioned it was a glitch. It would be interesting to see how many people get the ARN change notification before a decision is made (if only 1 service center is experiencing this glitch, if it's an accurate indicator on time frame, etc).

Essentially it could come back that quickly if the petitioner & beneficiary have not moved around a lot and have no record. I have clients who apply for housing that have lived in multiple states, and their background checks take a bit longer than people who have only lived in one state their entire lives.
